I check my online banking information quite often, and to my total surprise an item appeared, process pending, charging my account for $10.

I have never heard of the organization and certainly never authorized any such transaction.

There was a phone number shown on the pending transaction, so I called it to find out what was going on.

The person answering refused to provide any information as to what the charge was for and who "authorized" it, and immediately started requesting my personal information, which I refused to answer.

They obviously already had that information, or the charge wouldn't have appeared on my checking account.

The bank response was not any better, as they refused to reverse the charge and insisted I file a complaint in writing, after which I was to fill out a Regulation E form.

A GOOGLE search revealed that I'm not the first person to be victimized by this organization. Other rip-off reports claiming that the checking account information was obtained from CLASSMATES.COM, would appear to be the source by which my information was obtained and shared.

To the best of my knowledge, that is the only time I had ever used my debit card for anything other than grocery store or gas station transactions.

The bank has since cancelled the debit card, and issued a new one. The $10 reversal is still being pursued.

Hopefully, reporting this will save some other person from being victimized by these two organizations.
