In December of 2009 I was contacted by Jennifer.  She was looking for an inspector to perform mortgage verification inspections.  She said I was on their preferred provider list and asked me to think about it and give her a price.  We settled on two rates, one local and one for out of town.  I would be paid on the 1st of every month for work turned in by the 15th of the previous month.  I performed a lot of inspections.  My first check was a few dollars off, but basically there.  My second check was like the first.  During the next few months I completed preservation services, snow removal, cleaning in addition to dozens of inspections.  Everything had been coming in okay so I took a trip to the western part of my state and spent three days completing inspections in a different time zone.  When I returned home I expected my usual first of the month check.  Instead of 1100.00 it was 205.00.  I inquired about the discrepency and was told that it would be reviewed when my supervisor got a chance.  Meanwhile they sent me more work and stopped responding to my emails, faxes, phone calls, etc...  My balance went over 2000.00 and after 3 months I have received a check for 564.00 which is part of a preservation job and this week a check for 40.00.  That only leaves me a little more than 1700.00 to go.  Lawyers won't take it, there's no money in it.  The attorney General only handles consumer complaints.  The secretary of state licenses businesses but doesn't handle complaints.  I've been told to accept the fact that I've been ripped off.
