First of all, I'm kinda glad that I'm not the only person reporting Woman Within as a total rip off in the billing  and customer service department.  I have called Woman Within several times, wrote an e-mail, and even wrote them more than one letter trying to get my problem resolved, however, one day I was on the phone for over an hour getting the run-around constantly being sent from one person to another, talking with over five different people each one telling me something different without any results.

I orginally ordered buy one pair of capris and get the second pair "free" that were in their catalog for $29.99 and was billed that price, but only one pair came, so I called (several times, trying to get a real human being) that spoke English and tried to find out what the "deal" was, where was the second pair.  That day, I couldn't get anyone, so I sent an e-mail to woman-within and waited a week before an answer came back (from Romaans saying that I was mistaken, and they had never had such an "offer."  (I had thrown away that catalog) so I immediately tried to call and cancel the second pair. However, I received a bill for the second pair, and for something else too.

I sent what I thought was my final payment of $21.00 as the last bill had shown, and asked them to close my account, and cancel any so-called back orders and quit e-mailing me, and quit all catalogs (which just last week I received 5 or more plus-size catalogs from different companies).

I am not a plus-size, but I thought it was the perfect answer to order for my family and friends for gifts! Until the nightmare began...and still hasn't ended. I have called every toll free number they have given me. I even called them again yesterday, asking to speak to a supervisor, which I could never get one, just a person saying, she was authorized to take supervisor calls.  I told her I was trying to resolve the issue, I was willing to pay, but I never received the second pair of capris, and I didn't know what the second item they were charging me for.  She then claimed I never paid for the first pair, and they had cancelled the second pair. NOT!

Back in Sept. I spoke to a young man that said, he was the "Bank" and not with the company.  But he had many calls, and told me to continue writing in, and calling, as he had had others who had to call in 4 or 5 times before their issues were settled, but I had the Bank call me back today, wanting me to make a payment!  I explained to the guy today that I didn't owe anything & the charges were false, as I never received the capris and whatever else they were charging me for!

So, who can help all of us?

I'm not sure about your state but, most states allow a recording if one of the parties is aware in which case you can just tell them "I am recording this converstaion".  They either talk or hang up.

Since my first posting, and after I contacted my state's Attorney General's office, and my lawyer.  I  have a recording device attached to my office phone, and the time since my orginal report in Oct. I've been contacted numerous times by the Woman Within (WFNNB).  The first time they called me back to tell me that my account was in the rears, I asked if they minded if I recorded our conversation, he said, no, and after telling me I needed to make a payment, I told him my account was in 'dispute' and I couldn't make another payment until it was straightened out.  He said he would get a supervisior on the phone, and I asked really? A real supervisior that I've been asking for for several months now? I was on hold for about 5 minutes, then they hung up on their end.

I wasn't contacted again until after my lawyer and Attorney General had both written letters to Woman Within (and my last report on here).  By-the-way, they have about 5-6 different addresses, and contact information, so, which one is correct? Who knows for sure?

Two days ago, I received another call from WFNNB saying again they are the "bank," again a young man said he would put his supervisor on.  The supervisior began asking me to make a payment, as I had been faithful in the past, up to...(when I closed my account).  I told the supervisor that I would like to record our conversation, he said he had no problem with. I told him my whole story again!  So, he said, "Let's go over every transaction."  I told him from the start, "If I owe something, I am willing to pay, and have called several times willing to pay off any monies I might owe, but not for the two items in question, and refused to pay for these."

Well, after us going over each item, when I paid my final payment of $21.00 and closing my account (not to count the 2 items they charged me for), seems I owed $8.26, to which I told him, if he would remove all late charges and fees, I would pay him the 8.26.  He said he couldn't take off the late fees, because my account was in dispute, but he could accept the 8.26 over the phone, I was just about to give him my information, when he said there would be a $10.00 fee to accept the payment over the phone.  I told him, no, I refuse to pay a $10.00 fee, couldn't I just mail him a check.  At first, he didn't want to do it, but then, he changed his mind and told me if I mailed the check today, he would accept that payment.

He kept asking me why I didn't make such a small payment, seeing that was all I owed. I was kinda like, duh?  I called several times trying to find all this out. But, each time I was told I owed for two items I never received, and my account was in dispute and I wasn't going to pay all those late fees.  So, now, we will see what happens!
