The Wondries Toyota is the closest dealership to me, so I take it there, but each time I take it there for an oil change, they tell me the next oil change will be in 3000 miles, and before I even hit the 3000 mile mark, the performance is visibly slower.

I have taken my vehicle to (((competitor's name redacted))) Toyota in Long Beach and they tell me I only need an oil change every 5000 miles (maybe 7500 according to their website now) and the performance definitely lasts longer. They are more friendly and prompt there too. I have had to wait 30+ minutes for someone at Wondries to bring my car around, where they actually called me and told me that the car was ready.

As a separate incident, the person who sold me replacement windshield wipers told me I was buying windshield wipers, but it turned out he sold me inserts. He purposefully misled me.

sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company, ..plus, if you post a competitors name more than likely they will show up on search engines as a Rip-off! - - your comments on this policy are welcome. CLICK here to see why Rip-off Report, as a matter of policy, deleted either a phone number, link or e-mail address from this Report. In this case we removed an alleged competitor's name

No connection.

There is no connection between an oil change and performance. Oil is changed because it gets dirty and begins to lose its viscosity. This has nothing to do with the performance of the engine. Even oil with 3,000 miles on it is going to lubricate your engine just fine and have no effect on engine performance.

Usually people who sell oil changes recommend that you have it done every 3K miles. In reality, unless you are driving hard under very harsh conditions or have a turbo, a longer interval like 5K miles is just fine. If you want the authoritative answer, just open up your owners manual and it will tell you what the folks who designed and built the car recommend.
