John Adams, owner of Woodlands Moving & Storage and myself scheduled my move on May 13th, which was Mothers Day. I asked him if that would be a problem and he said no. I planned my move accordingly with my new landlord and with family to help me move the small items. All the volunteers scheduled their time off from work, etc. to help me on May 13th.
Four days before May 13th John Adams called and said that May 13th was a problem because it was Mother's Day and he wanted to change my moving date to the Friday before the 13th and I said no, I could not do that. He called and left a message on my cell that I would be moving on Friday at noon. I called him back and he was not available. So, I had to change everything around in my life, work, getting someone to help me and when noon came around the movers did not
show up and when I called John Adams he said it would be 3:00. When 3:00 came around he said his men were too tired to move me. I was very upset, because of all the trouble I had to go through to change my moving date. John Adams said he would move me May 13th.
On May 13th the 2 movers came and had difficulty moving my triple dresser because it was too heavy. I told them to take the drawers out and they did, which enabled them to move it to my new apt. I had told John Adams how heavy it was and he said I did not have to take the drawers out. But, it did cause a time delay in moving the dresser into my new apt. Adams original quote was $275 and the final quote was $486 give or take. I told him I would not give him more than
$300 because of his changing my moving date and not showing up, and causing undue stress and inconvenience to me and my family. He did not care! He has now turned me over to a collection agency for the balance of $100 and something. I think he acted very unprofessional and has no
clue apparently what it takes to organize a move. Even his movers said he overcharged me.
I think his movers did a great job; but Mr. Adams is a scoundrel and I would never recommend him He needs to take responsibility for railroading me by changing my date to Friday without getting the approval from me first. And then, the movers did not show up anyway. How unprofessional can a company get? I would never use these people again.
