After seeing what was done to my poor aunt this past month, I had to share this info,I previously worked for this company, and they showed their reps how to replace policies to make new commissions, when it was not good for the client. Managers showed agents how to forge signatures on policies. They also told many clients their policies would not run out and they would be paid in 7 years,(same as they told my aunt) they never did they had to keep paying. They say their rates are high because of being non-profit, thats crap, just compare with any other company, they are high. This happened to numerous customers. This company portrays them selves as a company that helps the community, what a joke, they use people to make their paychecks fatter without looking out for the client, its another non-profit insurance company that doesnt pay state taxes, so they spend the money on their executives salaries, this company breeds huge nepotism, in their hiring processes. I worked in the south for them, they would not write african-americans, or allow them to be in their lodges, they would not allow my wife to work with me, however, they allow the sons to work for their dads and get promoted immediately. Extremely predjudice insurance company. I highly recommend this info gets to all policy holders and employees, I am sure they could add much more to this. Buyer and employee beware, there a scam. Attornies should pursue them, to eliminate their crookedness, and non-profit scamming by keeping state tax money that states can use to suppport schools, instead of worthless executives. I urge everyone to start writing their insurance departments , and attornies start jumping on board to eliminate organizations like this, that get away without paying taxes and line their pockets and rip-off clients.

Retraction Of Unethical Practices
AUTHOR: goodguy2 - (United States of America)

My opinion above has been thought out and I have changed my mind in regard to the above complaint of unethical practices. The agent friend was doing his duty to provide for his client with the best of his knowledge and ability. Any misguidance in my comment on the integrity of the company or its representatives is unintentional. As to my knowledge and belief, Woodmen is a fine company with good people trying to earn a living and help people. Please accept this retraction.

Unethical practices

My mother purchased a policy from woodmen of the world a year ago, the insurance agent was a family friend for years and fortunately is still. She, my mother, saw the importance of having life insurance for protection of her assets and leaving a legacy behind for her grandchildren. A phone call to the agent/family friend, para med, and her policy was in force within a month. What she had was golden a 50,000 term life policy for twenty years, or so it seemed. The agent had told her the monthly premiums would never increase. He LIED. What he had sold her was a twenty year term with a ten year level premium, after ten years the policy premium doubled in the eleventh year and increased annually by the amount of the original ten year premium. My mother makes a modest living, this policy would have been financially devastating for her. I reviewed her policy and was absolutely shocked that a family friend, my friend your "field rep" sold this to my mother! We had the policy replaced immediately, increasing the face value , death benefit, to 100,000 with a twenty year LEVEL premium for less than 25 dollars monthly. I still have a great relationship with our family friend as a matter of fact he is a member of our local NAIFA group, i recruited him last month. It is in my opinion that this company, Woodmen of the World or Modern Woodmen of the World, is not in the business of changing lives, securing futures or helping policy holders or other clientele reach their goals, no sadly they are interested only in money.

Loyalty is a funny thing

Loyalty is a funny thing,
I have been with Woodmen for 6 months. This is what I have seen.
Non Profit- We have replaced all the Flags on our Main st, we have a partnership youth program with the YMCA, we are helping to replace our 9/11 memorial.
Life insurance- This is the general case. Someone is sold a universal policy and to keep the cost down it is sold at the minimum (life agents you know what im talking about). These policies should be sold as guarentee maturity with the customer understanding if they ever miss a payment the policy will not cancel but thier cash value will now be skewed. Most agents dont last 18 months so these customers dont get serviced, people pay about as much attention to thier life policies as they do internal parts to thier fridge. so they get a woodmen appointment and bam "why is there so little cash value my old agent is full of BS and lied to me. BAM policy replaced. Now is this shannanigens, no. This is a customer leaving because they were not taken care of and were given unrealistic expectations by thier now Ex agent.

This story is a load of Garbage. Woodmen are the best Company that i have ever worked for, as far as them being predjudice, thats Garbage also. Its sound like the Guy from Arlington should take a look at his own work ethic. Ask the schools and the community about our charitable programs.Oh and about our policies, I would put them up against anyone. I am a caucasian and just wrote my African American friend and her entire family, policies and they also went to a lodge meeting and had a blast and their kids are going to youth camp.

Woodmen Changes Lives
AUTHOR: Woodmen Rep - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Monday, February 21, 2011
I am a field rep with Woodmen and I know for a fact the claims you are making against the organization are false! You said you "worked for this company", so you of all individuals should know you are lying. When you are hired as a rep, you are sent to Omah, NE for a week where the main topic of study is providing your client with what they need. How many other organizations have been around for 120 years and has maintained the same founding principles? I have seen dozens of families impacted by the fraternal benefits alone, not to mention the death benefits. Replacing policies is part of the business, if an agent has questionable morals then that is on him/her alone and not the company as a whole. It doesn't matter what company or organization there will always be someone that should have never been hired. I don't think you can place judgement on everyone else. I came into this business behind a man who had been a rep with Woodmen for 37 years and wrote a ton business over the years. I have met with all of those clients that was left when he retired and the majority of them do not know a thing about their policies or what they have but they do know the character of the agent they have called a friend for all these years and wouldn't have it any other way. I have never heard anyone receive a death benefit check and say that is too much.
After reading what you wrote it is easy to tell that you don't know a good thing when you see it or you would still be working for Woodmen. Which is why you probably can't even tell if your aunt was even helped or not.
