We purchased the Mosquito Magnet Patriot model by Woodstream Company for use on our Maryland property.  After two weeks less than a dozen mosquitoes were trapped. Customer service went over a number of checks to insure the unit was operating properly and discussed best placement practices. Nothing helped! There were still enough mosquitoes left to eat you alive. It was decided to return the product.

Return was made to directly to the manufacturer since that is where it was purchased. I was surprised to learn that a 15% restocking fee was to be charged.  A review of the return policy only said, "in some cases, a small restocking fee may be charged."  This point should have been made more clear on their web site. Purchasing from a local retailer would have avoided this charge and shipping fees.

In summary, I find the product ineffective and the charging of a restocking fee improper.

Mosquito Magnet: Efficacy Data

AUTHOR: Marketing - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, September 14, 2012

I am sorry to hear that Bruce had a bad experience with our Mosquito Magnet(R) trap.  When dealing with pest control there are many factors that can affect performance of a product or a system: trap placement, specie of mosquitos among others are important variables.

I need to add that I understand Bruces skepticism because there are many companies who sell products with little or no proven efficacy to control dangerous pests (ultrasonic mosquito repellents?  Really?!).

I am proud to work for Woodstream Corporation who only markets products with scientifically proven technologies (we have been doing so since the 1880's!)

Our Mosquito Magnet products were tested by many scientists around the world including some prominent Mosquito researchers from the USDA and similar renowned organizations.   We have results from both laboratory & field studies that prove our products ability to catch female mosquitoes, resulting in population control over a couple/few weeks.

Again: Im sorry to hear that Bruce had a bad experience, but I recommend that visitors of this website conduct further research and check other websites for consumer reviews (mosquitomagnet.com amazon.com).  You will find that many consumers have been able to enjoy their backyards thanks to our technology.

For the more scientifically savvy consumers out there, I invite you to visit us at the next American Mosquito Control Association meeting: we have been a proud member of this fine organization for many years and collaborate with many of its members for various research projects.

Best regards,
