EDitor's UPDATED info 2-20-04: Rip-off Report is still receiving complaints that they are not receiving the refunds as promised. Rip-off Report has been in contact with the Company and has made them aware of these issues. They have assured us that refunds are being given to those who are providing them with all the correct contact information requested by them. They have also provided confirmation/proof of over 2,600 refunds to date, on a spreadsheet, and Rip-off Report staff called and verified more than a dozen consumers at random, all very angry & outraged, but, they all did get their refund. The company again apologized for the delay and reported that credit to your account could take as long as 4-5 days. As we understand it, this company only does the processing for all the other companies, so they are at the mercy of those companies funds, further delaying your refund.

Rip-off Report is hoping they will live up to what they have promised, we think they will, ..we'll see. Rip-off Report will continue to investigate more into this situation, and we will eventually post an UPDATE to the main Report at this web address: https://www.ripoffreport.com/view.asp?id=76605

In the begining of November of 2003, I started looking for something to buy my wife of 25 years a special gift for Christmas. In doing this, I started searching in the local stores,catelogs,and the internet. Because of our time together, I wanted to find the right gift. Of course I was able to find some great gifts, but due to my money situation as well as as my credit, I was not able to get what I wanted.

So after I surfed the internet, I came across WorldBenefits. They offered a credit card with a $2000 line of credit and a package on how to rebuild your credit. I thought, WoW! this is the way to go, I can get what I wanted for my wife and rebuild my credit at the same time for only $300 start up fee. I was even told that the $300 would cover the annual finance charges on any purchases I may have.

So on December 3rd, I give World Benefits my checking account information so they could draft my account for the $300. At that time,I was told that I would be receiving my packet on how to rebuild my credit, and shortly after that, I would get my credit card with the $2000 limit. All this was to happen within a 3 week period. OK.....

It's now the third week of December, no packet, no credit card. So I started calling World Benefits to find out what was going on. Every time I called, I either got a busy signal our I was on hold until I could not hold any longer. One time I even held on for an hour. At this point,Christmas was a week away. So I researched the party that cashed my check and they gave me another phone number to call and they told me that I might get a busy signal and if I was able to get through,I needed to hold until I spoke with someone. Well....

After several attempts I finally spoke to someone at World Benefits. I was told that my packet was in the mail and I should get it sometime in January. I informed the rep, that this was not what I was told and I wanted to cancel and get my $300 back. Of couse, they were able to acommodate me, but I had to pay a penalty because I was out of the 15 days requirement to cancel. So I decided to leave it along, because I thought this was still a good deal. Guess what......

I did get my packet for rebuilding my credit in mid January, but no credit card, which ended up being a total lost,because my wife ended up with very little for Christmas,( especially with WorldBenefits holding my $300 ).

After several more attempt in trying to contact World Benefit in regards to my credit card, I finally spoke with a Rep, and was told that it was up to the bank whether they would issue me the credit card or not, but he would issue a letter to the bank to see if they would release the credit card for the $2000 to me.

It is know March 8th 2004, and nothing. At this point, I don't know what my options are. I tried e-mailing this to the web site and the person you had listed for World Benefits and it can't be found. I will continute to try and get my $300 back from World Benefits, but if there is something you can do to help, it will be a great blow for the little but hard working men of this world.

P.S. I'm a person who do not believe in the internet because of all the fraud that's happen, but because I wanted to get something nice for my wife for Christmas I had to try it. And World Benefits have proven me right. The internet is not for me..............

The sad thing is, all I wanted was a laptop.
