COMPLAINT INFORMATION:
I am reporting a Master Card & Travel Offer Scam! During the last week of September, I recieved a phone solicitation fron this company. The salesman said that they were a credit re-building establishment, and that I qualify for a Master Card Credit Card, with a credit limit of $2500.
I had recently been applying for credit cards online, so that's how they may have obtained my information. I know the difference between a "secured" and an "unsecured card." He told me that it was an unsecured Master Card. The initial payment was $329. The guy told me that I would recieve my card in about 21 days, and at that time I could reimburse my cash flow with funds from the card. Then he told me that as a bonus I would recieve a free complete vacation package for 6 nights/7 days to "anywhere in the world," and in addition to that I would also recieve, an additional free hotel pkg. for two nights.I accepted this offer.
I was then connected to another sales guy named who recorded the phone agreement that I made with them. I don't know why, but re-recorded it three times to be sure that it was exactly right. The $329 was deducted from my bank account on October 5th.
21 days later, I recieved only a request form for my signature. I called the company. I talked to Steve Pennington who assured me that as soon as they recieved my signature, my package would arrive promptly. I sent my signature back to them the following day.
After about 3 weeks, I called them again. It was two days before Thanksgiving. Again I spoke with Mr. Pennington. I told him that I was getting impatient to get my package, and I was concerned wether this Master Card was the real thing. He again reassured me that I was to expect an unsecured Master Card for $2500. and the vacation pkg. "any day now."
Upset,I called him again last week on 12/4. He said that the package was sent out on Tuesday 12/2.I finally recieved the package today 12/7. I recieved only an offer for a secured Master Card which included an additional fee; and a 1 day cruse + 2 night hotel pkg offer-out of Florida that costs additional $Hundreds. I live in California. How am I supposed to get to Florida, Hitch Hike?
I'm just a single mom/student-trying to establish good credit. I would never agree to an offer that I can't financially support? I certainly don't have the money to buy plane tickets, or to put into a secured debit card! Numerous times, this "company" LIED to me about what they were selling.
It's a scam!
