This is just a newsflash for anyone thinking about using the Worldcom Wireless mail certificate you all may receive, as I did. This company is a complete scam.
I signed up for the "free phone" offer because of the appealing offer of nationwide long-distance, caller id, call waiting, etc. However, had I known how pitiful this phone, company, and service were, I'd stick to writing letters!!
If you were to try to call the 800 number, as I did today because my contract expires on May 1, 2002 (thank God!), you would be on hold for a minimum of 20 minutes, as I was. Of course, that is simply IF you get through. The majority of the time you are told that "call volumes are extremely high" and that you should call back. Call volumes are high because not one person working there is actually talking to a customer!
I called to check up on the fact that my service expires on May 1, 2002 (again, thank God!). They told me I would have to call them back on May 1, 2002 to cancel the service!!! When I asked if I could simply tell them now that I wanted it canceled on May 1, 2002, they said I couldn't and that a early cancellation fee would be charged. They said if I didn't call and wait in line on their piece of s**t phone holding system, my service would continue on a monthly basis. They further informed that the early cancellation fee, which I would be charged for simply asking that my service not be renewed any time BEFORE May 1, 2002 would be $200!!!
As you can see, this is a complete scam company.
I implore all customers of cell phone to inform ALL people you know that are contemplating this deceitful offer to PLEASE not use it. It is a complete scam, and I can't understand why the Better Business Bureau hasn't shut down this cut-rate dishonest company. PLEASE shy away from ALL Worlcom Wireless products, services, or business, for your own good!
