I noticed an online company (Global Who's Who) advertising on the LinkedIn website.  I forwarded my information understanding that it could be a potential networking resource.  I received a telephone call for an interview for membership acceptance.  After verifying the information I provided, and others, the rep offered their menu of services starting at $890 for life-time including 2 airline tickets.

The rep tried to coherse me into gaving a credit card.  When I suggested that I am not too good  with pressured salemenship, and that I wanted a proposal of services or written notice of what her company offered she seem to continuously defend her company's product and services -our offering yet a lower agreement until we reached $199.  When I told her that I was uncomfortable with her approach and that I was concern about the legitimacy of her business, she seemed even more desperate to convince me to gave her a payment method.  All "scam" red flag and blowhorn surfaced in my head.  I told the rep that I would not commit to any verbal agreement, and that the fact that I insisted on a written confirmation or documentation on what they were offering seemed to be so challenging for her to provide me with- our conversation was over.  I finally hung-up the phone when I saw how intense her behavior was to make the sale.  When I googled the name and found bad reports on this company, I was extremely elited that my suspicion was on point.  My advise to anyone that encounters this company to simply avoid them.

Similar Experience

AUTHOR: THEArtistT - ()

POSTED: Saturday, August 03, 2013

I just had a very similar experience with this company (08-03-2013). When I made it very clear that I did not have any money at this time, but I would be interested a week or so from now, she became agitated and kept lowering the price. I finally said that by giving me a week, it would also allow me to check out her company. At that she became borderline hostile, saying her company does not negotiate with applicants. Whatever that means. She was certainly happy enough to negotiate the cost of her service which started at a lifetime subscription for $899.00 with two free airline tickets to anywhere in the world, down to a two-year subscription for $99.00 without the tickets. She kept hammering at me for my debit card number even after I told her several times I would not overdraw my account for this service.

My advice is the same as the original poster, don't even apply. And I urge Linked In (I will file a separate report with them) to drop them as an advertiser.
