On Jul. 08, 2000, we purchased airline tickets for round trip flights from Huntsville, AL to Orlando, FL, to attend a wedding. We were to fly out on Aug. 10, 2000 at 6:45am. The night before, at 5:00pm, we got a call that my mother-in-law had passed away in Kokomo, IN. Not able to make our flight, I reported to the airlines that we would not make it, and requested a refund. They informed me that since we had purchased the tickets from Cheap Tickets, Inc., we would have to get refunded by THEM.

After several e-mails and several phone calls, Cheap Tickets refused to refund our $450.00, saying the airlines didn't allow it!! I requested a refund application, and they refuse to send me one. They also said that tickets purchased through them are non-refundable, for ANY reason, period. Be careful when purchasing airline tickets from this outfit. As a matter of fact I'd encourage EVERYBODY to stay clear of CHEAP TICKETS, INC.

You would'nt believe what all you have to go through just to talk to a live human at this company. Then when you do, they seem very sympathetic and hopeful, then you are informed by e-mail, that they'll keep your money, and there's nothing you can do about it.

Bereavement policy

AUTHOR: Steve - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, July 15, 2012

usually  airlines  issue  a  full  refund  if  there  is  a  death  in  the  family.  any  reputable  airline  will also  allow you  to  rebook  without  a  penalty  in  this  case.

That's the rules when you book online

Unfortunately most online sites have a no cancellation policy within 12 to 72 hours (depending on the company) because they have already purchased the seat from the airline, they have to pay for it wheteher it's filled or not and you didn't give them enough time to fill the seat.

it's clearly stated in their policies which should ALWAYS be read before booking.

Under Terms and conditions it reads: "Unless otherwise specified, once confirmed/ticketed, most reservations cannot be transferred, changed, upgraded, or cancelled/refunded; "

Then under FAQ:Cancellations "If your fare rules for your flight reservation permit you to cancel, please be advised that we require you to cancel at least 12 hours before your flight's originally scheduled departure time, and you will incur cancellation fees."

Your fare rules may not have allowed cancellations at all but you may have been overdue for the 12 time anyway depending on how long after you recieved the news you cantacted Cheaptickets.com

This is the flip side of booking easy and cheap fares...the penalties are tough.
