When cosigning for a vehicle for my son we purchased gap insurance(in which was the first time and last time I will ever do) from Wynn,s without researching company being as dealer recommended company.  7 months after purchase vehicle was in an acident after a snow storm and was a total loss. The vehicle value was higher than what was owed so my auto insurance took care of loss and gap insurance did not come in to play. There was 53 months left on policy and when I called them for reimbursement for the remaining 53 months in which in their policy states if you cancel at any time, Up to 30 days full rembursement and after 30 days rembursement at a pro rated level  for remaining time. What they put in their fine print under cancellation is in the event of total loss the Gap premium  is fully earned. Being as I am not a lawyer I didn't understand what that meant nor did I read that prior to purchase.

     What has been explained to me by Wynn's is that if vehicle is total loss even though they do not pay out one dime they are keeping your money. If I would have canceled policy when I relized policy was worthless because of value of truck versus money owed I would have gotten reimbursement or for that matter if I would have just cancelled policy and not told them vehicle was in an accident I would have gotten reimbursed for the 53 months remaining. As far as I'm concerned this is fraud and I will never purchase gap insurance again, at least not from Wynn's. This is quit the scam, the only way that they would every have to pay out is if you buy a vehicle that is way over book value ( in which same on you)and there is a total loss.
