These people were very aggressive before the sale. They searched and found my pool construction permint and contacted me with great claims about superior product. The called several time leading up to the completion of the pool. A representative came to my house and brought samples. They return my calls promptly and seemed to be honest and reliable. They knew all of the local codes for fences around pools. The representative measured, recommend materials, gates. locks... He said they needed about 2 weeks lead time to schedule the installation.
I scheduled installation about 1 month out because that was the time that pool builder expected to be complete and ready to fill. This had to be carefully coordinated because it is against the law to fill the pool without a fence in place. I also had landscape installation scheduled a few days after the fence was installed. The Xtreme fence representative said they required a 50% deposit because they had to order materials and begin the manufacturing process. I should have seen this big red flag, but it sounded reasonable. I wrote a check, which they deposited immediately. After they got my deposit the responsiveness and returned phone calls abruptly stopped.
I called a couple of times leading up to the date my fence was supposed to be installed. I even called 4 days before because the pool builder and the landscape company were on a busy schedule and need to know that the fence would be installed as planned so they could do their work. I called from my work number and the Xtreme Fence rep answered and told me everyting was on schedule and they would complete the installation as planned.
At around 9 PM the night before they were supposed to arrive, I got a message from Xtreme Fence that they had a problem getting the materials for my fence and they would be a day late. I made arrangements with the pool builder accordingly. The landscaping would be ok, because it was a few days later anyway. No one from Xtreme Fence showed up or called the next day, or the next week. I made repeated calls and sent emails trying to get any answer to when they would arrive. No responses.
When I called the main office and ask for the owner or manager, I was told he was not available. The person who answered the phone said he didn't know much about fences or the the fence business. I would just have to wait for the rep to call me back. I kept calling 1-2 time daily for about a week. This became a huge problem because pool builder was on hold and the landscaping company had several thousand dollars worth of trees on their trucks that needed to be planted immediately. I had to let them plant the trees and place some boulders before the fence was in place. Which was not ideal because some of the landscaping placement was dependent on the fence.
At this point, I had been completely ripped off and had to find a new fence company who could do a rush job. I also contacted a lawyer. On the day before the new fence contractor was to arrive, the Xtreme Fence people came and installed the fence.
The final product was mostly ok. However, my landscaping was already in and some of the trees and other items were not located ideally because the fence wasn't in place installed and they didn't know exactly where it would be. The crew that installed the fence was not even Xtreme fence, it was a third party who the work was subcontracted to. The fence itself had some flaws, such as pickets the were not straight, welds that were missed, the gate didn't close properly, some of the fence bars were buldging where they were bent or damaged. The Xtreme fence rep came over and promised to replace some of the fence sections that had problems.
It has been 4 months and they have made no effort to correct any of the problems. At this point, I don't want them back on my property.
Xtreme Fence does a good job of internet marketing and you will probably find mostly good reports on them. This is because they do a good job of managing their image. However, their company, their service, and their product is not nearly as good as the image they portray. I want anyone who is considering using Xtreme Fence to know about the pain that I went through trying to get them to honor their commitiments. I suggest everyone should avoid this company. They may quote a lower price, or claim that their product is superior for the same price, but be warned, it is not worth it. Find a real reputable company and be extremely careful about giving them money up front.
