The communtity of Sherwood Villiage in Lawton, OK is ridiculous, we have lived there since Dec, 2010 and we had originally signed a 1yr lease, we chose to pay month to month after our lease was up, even though we did try and look into a 6 month lease, they informed us they did not do that. So we setlled with paying a little more extra a month while looking for another place to live, well we had this chance to move in July, and when we asked them if we needed to file a 30-day notice, they simply told us no, they do end of the month notice so no matter how far into the month it is you have until the end to move out.

Well we ended up not being able to move when we wanted so once again we dealt with living there, we then found an apt. for $200 less a month only paying electric, well its the middle of Sept. and when we told them we would be out by the end of Sept. and we wont be there at all in Oct. they then informed us we needed to do a 30-day-notice! Which they had previously stated they did not require, well we then reminded them of what they had told us before and they denied ever saying it. Then they tried offering us a 6 month lease to lessen our rent,

when they had previously told us they could not accomidate a 6 month lease, we then told them they could just pro-rate us for the month of Oct, they said that was not a possibility... so now they are saying we need to pay all of Oct. rent even though we will not be residing there at all in the month of Oct. We have tried to contact corprate and they just forwarded us to the main office in our community. To me this is unfair, we have had maintence issues the whole almost 2 years we have been living there, we will most likely seek out legal action for we do not agree with their terms.

YES! Communities Lease Terms

AUTHOR: YES! Communities - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, August 13, 2013

YES! Communities does require a 30-notice of lease termination for month-to-month leases, this requirement should have been outlined in the new month-to-month lease that the residents agreed to and signed.
