On 12/04/2009 I ordered an item from this web site store. The item was much cheaper on this site(that should have raised a red flag but it didn't) and I promptly received an order confirmation email. The next day I received an email stating that my order was" being processed for shipping".

On 12/15/2009 I received an email stating the same thing as the last email. on 12/19 I received an email stating that "your order will shipped by the end of the week". It also stated "I want you to know that your order is still guarateeded to arrive before Christamas". The spelling errors are theirs.

On 12/25 (Christmas day) I received this email message. "This is just a courtesy e-mail letting you know that you should look for your order within the next day or so". The package arrived at the Post Office on the 29th of December and I refused the delivery. on the same day I sent an email to their customer service dept, telling that I had refused delivery and that I wanted them to credit my card.

I have received no communications from them and my card has not been credited. I tried to contact them by phone and received no answer. I also tried their "live chat" but within a couple of minutes after I typed my request, I got a message saying that their system was down. I have also noticed that they have changed their phone number again.

This company is obviously the type of company that you don't want to do business with. They give internet shopping a bad name and should be put out of business. I plan to file a complaint with my State's Consumer Protection Office and followup as much as possible so that this company is punished for their practices. That's the nice thing about being retired. I have time to deal with these type of people.

The OP here seems to be peppering the web as far and wide as he/she can with this story about Your Store Online.  I'm glad at least this site gives other consumers the opportunity to rebut.

Fines?  JAIL TIME???  For what?  Having an unhappy customer?  Doing bad business is not a crime (returning merchandise without properly observing the merchant's return policy and then disputing the credit card charge is fraud, actually.  That's akin to leaving a sack of unwanted merchandise in WalMart's parking lot and then taking the money from one of the cash registers).  If they hack off enough customers, they will lose all of their customers, go out of business, and then they can use a lawn chair to camp out in the unemployment line with the rest of the 10% of our population that is currently out of work.  That's how the free enterprise system works and there is no need for the government to intervene in that natural flow of actions/consequences by criminalizing part of it.

I own a small business and will be first to say that it is IMPOSSIBLE to please every customer and the customer is NOT always right.  For every angry customer I have had, there are a hundred others giving my number to friends and family.  Since Your Store Online is still in business I would wager that this is the case with them as well, although it is little more than educated conjecture.  There are a disproportionate number of complaints vs. compliments on the web, but that is true of all web businesses.  People are much more likely to proverbially "shout from the rooftops" if they are mad than if they are happy.

I can also find no record of this company changing its phone number at all in recent years.  The wayback machine shows the same number on the site throughout its existence.  A satellite view of its address shows a warehouse in an industrial park; exactly what one would expect.

Since I have had more than one very pleasant experience with this merchant, including first-rate phone service before and after the sale as well as them standing behind a price error on their part that cost them hundreds of dollars and saved me a bundle, we'll say that my experience cancels out that of the original poster and a few others who have used this or other forums to complain.

(and no, I don't work for them.  They are a bric-a-brac dealer in Wisconsin.  I am an IT consultant 1200 miles away in Houston)
