I was approached by a friend to invest in my own travel website. For $499.00 you are set up with your own site to book travel or other people can go to the website and book.

Unless you recruit more people into the business you end up with a $49.00 a month website fee. Yes I did recoup my $499.00 and a few months of fees. But it is almost impossible to get people to do this. Also I have waited up to 6 months for a commission. I shut down my site because of the fees and can do better on the web for travel. The up line involved flew the coop and got into other devious businesses.

I failed to mention there is a charge for "training" in Orlando, Fl to get an ID. That was $150.00. Should have known better....no support from anyone including YTB headquarters. Would love to get my money back but have not pursued to do that.

Stay away!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only a few people getting rich.

did YTB let you down? or did you let yourself down?

AUTHOR: mike - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 02, 2010

I have been with YTB for almost three years now and by my own admission I am a terrible salesperson, but absolutely love travel.  I previously was an insurance rep for a major company and in a years time made very few sales, yet my boss wanted me there 40 hours a week.  The initial cost for training and licensing for insurance and investments was at least twice the amount of the initial investment for YTB.   I hear the real estate and mortgage training and licensing is similar.  These are three professions that almost require you to work 40 hours per week with no guarantees.

How many hours of true work and sales did you do for your YTB busines?  Was it a job/business where you strived to succeed or was it a hobby where you put in some effort but didn't see incredible results.  Did you do any goal setting with what work would be required to reach those goals?

YTB offers TWO UNIQUE  opportunities.

One is to own your own travel business and website.  I took that opportunity and ran with it.  I started taking every online seminar I could which were offered by cruiselines and resorts.  Almost all of these classes are free and offer rewards.  To become successful you have to work at it and let people see that you really are a travel specialist.  Did you join your local chamber of commerce?  Many leads groups such as BNI chapters have no travel agents and would love one.  All their members do some form of travel.

Cunard and Princess even offer FREE graduation voyages upon finishing their 25, one hour long, FREE online classes.  I will be boarding the Queen Mary 2 next month for my transatlantic voyage from NYC to Southampton England along with my MOTHER AS MY GUEST FOR HER 75TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION for my free graduation voyage.  Princess cruiselines will be greeting me for my free cruise with them in the near future.

The six month wait for comissions unfortunately can be normal in the travel industry.  YTB acts as the host agent and does all the tracking and recovery of comissions.  No comissions are ever paid until the person actually travels.  In some cases this travel may be 6-12 months after booking.

Compared to opening ANY type of business YTB has to be the lowest cost.  To open a home cleaning business a good commercial vacuum cleaner costs more than $500 with no guarantee that it will ever be used other than your own living room.  Even the kids lemonaid stand during the summer requires some intial investment and must be resupplied every day with someone there to operate it.  With YTB, like with expedia or travelocity, you can make money anytime someone books on your site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.  Your job is to refer people to your site and assist  new travelers on how to use your site.

The second opportunity that YTB offrs is on the marketing side.

YTB is looking for reps to sell travel sites.  There is NEVER any cost to become a rep. Think of it this way.  The McDonald brothers would never have gotten rich selling burgers at their one location.  Ray Kroc got his riches from franchising the OPPORTUNITY for others to sell McDonalds burgers and getting a portion of the profits from each store.  As did any person that took a great idea and franchised it.  YTB allows you in on this opprotunity by you being a rep for the company and selling travel sites and getting an immediate comission as well as residual comissions.  Your responsibility is to help and train new people that buy stores.

Since there is never any investment to become a rep for YTB and there is a chance to become financially independent I don't see any rip off there and that is the only sid ethat has anything to do with a pyramid, which is the type of structure any founder wants when building a cpompany sionce it is the most stable of all structures, business or architectural wise.

That leaves us with the travel agent side.  The $1200 first year investment is probably the lowest cost you can have to get into any type of business.  You have to EARN your travel credentials, which isn't too hard.  You DO get insider specials, upgrades, pricing, and amenities.  You DO get great tax advantages.  You DO get self confidence as you BUILD your business and become the person others turn to.  You DO get the admiration of others as a business owner especially if you have the drive to succeed.

DID YOU HAVE THAT DRIVE TO SUCCEED OR WAS IT YTB THAT WAS THE RIPOFF????
