I received a charge on my Verizon bill labeled: "$13.41 collect call from Delray Beach, FL" for December 17, 2008.

I do not know anyone in Delray Beach, Florida, so there is no way I would accept a collect call from there. I called Verizon to dispute the charge and was informed that I would have to contact ZDPI. This answer was pretty lame, in my humble opinion, because I did not authorize Verizon to bill me for third party carriers but I contact ZDPI as instructed, via the internet (the only method available.)

The answer I received from ZDPI was that their company aggregates records for other service providers and they cannot issue a credit as they were billing Verizon for a service provided by American Roaming Net!

Currently, Verizon continues to bill me a late fee each month AND continues to carry the charge. Apparently, I have to call every 90 days and re-submit my protest.

What a scam! Verizon insists they cannot remove the charge; ZDPI declares the same thing! Meanwhile, I am the victim, who never authorized the charge in the first place, but has to spend endless hours on the phone or following up by email protesting fraudulent charges. How can it be LEGAL for Verizon to charge for a company who charges for another company, whom I never contracted with in the first place???

ZDPI-Becky, you are not alone!

AUTHOR: Ross McGowan - (Canada)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 30, 2009

re: ZDPI Becky of Land O Lakes Fla, I had an identical collect call bill from Delray Beach Fla. The date was 05Aug'09, so it looks like they are still ripping us off. They are expanding however, as I am in White Rock, British Columbia, Canada.
I went through 2 days of nonsense with my provider (Telus) and Opticom who they use as a 3rd party clearing house. Suprisingly, Marie, at Opticom was very helpful and called me back a couple of times with no success contacting ZDPI. So, I can't agree with some of the posters slamming Opticom. I then googled those ZDPI hosers and found this fine web site.
I did finally get satisfaction. I don't know whether this will work in the United States, but I demanded to speak to a Supervisor at Telus and threatened to go to the media, disconnect their services, BBB, Canadian Marketing Assoc, provincial and federal politicians, short-sheet their bed, etc.....basically it was a very clear message that "it is only $10.73, but it is my $10.73 and I am not going away until this wrong is righted"
I have read many of the complaints on ZDPI at this forum and found that going after them, consistently resulted in the same result. NADA, and just more frustration, eh?
I don't understand how this can possibly be legal, but these complaints go back years and nothing has been done to correct this theft.
I realize that there are hundreds, if not thousands of these scamming wankers out there, but maybe it is time to send a message and get involved in a class action lawsuit over these clowns. Can you imagine just how many people were unaware or just simply couldn't be bothered to fight? They are making a fortune!!! They will continue to do so until we start chucking frozen s****.>
