Warning ; ZIPWeb sent me a Schedule of Services on 3.22.2008. It indicated that I was receiving an Evaluation Period for what they claim is a free ZipWeb Pay-Per-Click (PPC) online advertising campaign. The notice arrived on a fold over billing sheet marked Personal and Confidential concerning an account ending in 6956. The card is Presorted First Class U.S. Postage PAID St. Louis, MO. Permit No. 5641, sent to me at a former business address I haven't used since June 2007, which I know from the address.
The "bill" indicates that my "unknown to me registration" for services is in full swing. Interestingly, I don't have anything to do with the former business and do not have need for advertising services or hosting services. I in fact do my own hosting, through my affiliate status with a reseller GoDaddy account. Another reason I don't need their hosting. The letter, "bill" claims to notify me that a 30-day evaluation period is coming to an end, and that I will begin being billed $49.95/mth via the billing resources pages of your local telephone bill as ZWW-ISP. I actually triied to call the number on the billing listed as: 1-800-984-6666, with an immediate pickup with a woman's voice immediately informing you that you are being put on hold. I sat there from 645PM to 7PM with four songs played while on hold, with no followup. I tried a few more times, with the same what appears to be an automatic answer, before I went to Google, looked up their website as no other information is on the 'bill' except for the 800 phone number I alreay mentioned. The website that Google indicated as zipweb.com forwarded to http://www.zipwideweb.com/zww/app where I found a map with a link to register your business, so I clicked on it to see where that took me. This link took me to http://business.zipweb.com/ where I saw similiar services listed and another phone number: 1-888-529-7526 which I was able to call at 710PM EST on 3-22-2008 and leave a message that I did not sign up for this service and did not want to continue it if they have me down for their services. I also explained that their other 800 supposed 24/7 phone service only goes to a music hold and this number does not get answered. Once I post this today, I will get on the phone to my phone company to pre-refuse any billing from this company as I don't need or want their 'services'. So if necessary I will file an adendem to this posting if a further posting is warranted.

Help us make things right

First, allow us to apologize for your negative experience. We are always surprised by this type of feedback, as it is virtually impossible to be charged for our service without being aware of it. We record every single sales call and then put each recording through a 2-stage quality control process. We then call the customer to confirm and explain our service, followed by e-mail and hardcopy notifications prior to the first billing. A vast majority of the time, the human touch is a great thing, but occasionally human error may result. We invite you to contact our VP of Customer Relations at 1-800-222-5529 if you would like to discuss your specific issue. It is our sincere wish that every business benefits from our service, but if not, we at least strive to resolve all conflicts and misunderstandings.

How to cancel
AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

The important question is: How can I cancel and keep their charges off my bills, as well as avoid negative postings to my credit report?
