Nationwide sales person Lissa Choven constantly reassured me that pieces to be hoisted were included in estimate. In addition we have this on our contract. I detailed everything, up to the plants to facilitate my move from New York to Chicago. On the morning of the move we were told that the movers wanted more money to hoist and we would have to pay additional. We refused, and Nationwide refused to take our calls. After waiting and trying to call for 5 hours (we have copies of phone logs which Kat Elias denies receiving)we were forced to cancel and find alternative movers which we did. This was probably the best thing we did because Nationwide would have extorted money from both ends.

I might add that I contacted the BBB site and was informed that Nationwide had a satisfactory record. They should be cited for this infraction since the public depends on them for some guidance.

American Express was able to get a 200.00 refund on our 1315.00 deposit and they gave me a refund from their goodwill fund. Nationwide still owes money to the Santelers and I will continue to fight this injustice.

Nationwide are poor business people, more than brokers

I am sorry but I simply don't believe this rebuttal. I have had personal dealings with Nationwide, unfortunately. They are nothing more than brokers who set up your move with other "companies", for lack of a better word, in this case a company could be a few drunks with a moving truck (and often is). They simply set up the move with these guys who are absolute bottom of the barrel as far as movers go, and for this service charge you hundreds of dollars. They tell you anything to get your deposit then if there are problems hey that's not their problem, the movers are a separate company, and all they did was set you up with the mover.

Folks don't give these people your money, get a local mover yourself, someone your friends and family have had dealings with and recommend, and save a LOT of money and headaches. That is the smartest think you can do. Do NOT contact these people as they will send rip off artists and drunks to move your valuables. At best you will be extorted for more money, at worst they will rob you blind.

And finally, keep appealing the decision with American Express. I had to do that for like 6 or 8 months, but finally I wore them down and they ate it. Keep appealing and keep the pressure on and you will prevail in the end.

I am very familiar with this customer and she is not telling the truth.

I have first hand knowledge that this company offered to pay the expenses of the hoisting of her furniture. She also lied about the items that were to be hoisted. She expressed that two items needed to be hoisted and when the movers arrived there were five items. Every effort was made to accommodate her move and she refused. Every email and phone call was returned and she knows it. The reason she was not completely refunded is because there is documentation of what she said needed to be hoisted and what really needed to be hoisted once the movers arrived. You know what really happened, you tried to get over on this company. Did you really think that once the movers got there that they wouldnt want to be paid for the extra services. If you ever have to move again, try to be more honest as to what services you need and what items need to be moved.
