I purchased a Dell computer 2 years ago. Asked the sales rep. for the $100 rebate offered on the computer I had to return. She put me on hold while she checked with her "supervisor" and came back a while later to say it had been approved. We carefully went over the sys. configuration and pricing several times.
The rebate did not appear on the invoice. Tried to remedy thru "custome service". Sent in full payment less the $100. After Dell was done adding late fees and interest the amount is close to $450. I've spent many, many fustrating hours on the phone with them, and twice customer service reps. have told me they will credit the account. What a den of theives!!!
I have in writing from a Dell executive (not just a rep) that my accout will be credited...but it never happens. Meanwhile, this appears on my credit report and I have had to deal with three collection agencies. My creit is flawless except for this incident. Apparently the only way I can get out of Dell hell is through small claims court.

#1 UPDATE Employee
Dell is who you need to speak to

Rob,
I am sorry you have been having such issues on your rebate. Hopefully I can help you a little. I work for Dell Financial Services and come across this issue all the time.
Dell and Dell Financial Services (DFS) are actually two separate companies. DFS is just a credit card company, much like a store credit card at Kohls or Dillards. Some products come with rebates, but those are all issued through Dell Computer Corporation.
I am uncertian who your letter is from stating your Dell Financial account would be credited. (Am I correct to say this is the Dell Preferred Account?) That would be highly unorthodox, as usually if a rebate is issued late Dell will either send the customer or send DFS, a different company, the money.
If this is something you are still trying to pursue, I recommend you contact Dell Corporation Customer Service at 800-624-9897 to dispute this. Here at DFS, we are just a credit card company and have no say over your rebate.
Warmest Regards,
T @ DFS
