In early October, I found out 4 of my Internet ads had changed. Dex later admitted it was due to upgrades in their system over the summer and neither I nor they know exactly when the ads changed. They listed my long distance business number rather than my local market exchange number and one ad was dropped completely.
There's no way to calculate lost business and of course, DEX's contracts waive them of any responsibility.
But contracts can be challenged in court if deemed unfair.
NO ONE would have known the ads were incorrect or one was deleted until I checked it myself one day for no particular reason.
After numerous calls and being re-routed, they credited my account by November, but have still not corrected a simple phone number nor added my dropped ad as the contract I and they signed for the year before.
I went beyond my sales rep and his supervisor to an assistant then her boss
(Mary Jane Cox) at Dex Media Headquarters in Colo Springs, who said she'd stay on top of it back in mid-November but still nothing changed.
By mid-December, I wrote to Dave Swanson, CEO of DEX and heard from his assistant almost immediately. He said they cannot reimburse me any further amount and he will contact Mary directly to get my correct number listed promptly. It's now Dec. 22nd.
The time and frustration with DEX has now prompted me to consider a class action lawsuit. They are apparently hiring 3rd party tech folks and making changes in the system that is resulting in mistakes. I told DEX they should be like EBay and allow folks to upload and pay for ads at will and get rid of all the sales rep, which should save customers money and DEX office space!
Since DEX has a monopoly on phone ads, they should not be allowed to insulate themselves from wrong doing.
Is anyone having similar problems and considering a class action suit?
