Beware of eFax.com.  We are a medical office and have (now had) an eFax.com account.  We use this internet fax service to scan documents from our office fax machine and store them in our computer data base email storage file.  We then will email the private personal medical records to other doctors when needed upon patient referral.

Yesterday we faxed a document to our eFax.com number.  The document did not show up on our internet email account.  We checked the fax print out record and confirmed the eFax.com number dialed was correct and it was.  We faxed the document again.  We also faxed two other medical records to our eFax.com number.

Not one of those additional faxes showed up on our email account yet the fax record showed we had dialed the correct number.  We even faxed documents to other offices directly and those offices all received the information.

Later in the day I received a call from one of our patients.  He worked for a large company and said he had received a medical report from our office.  He said the corporate headquarters had received an email from eFaxcorporate.com with his private medical records attached.

Needless to say we called eFax.com immediately.  Although eFax.com will not acknowledge the error,  it turns out that the patient's company uses eFaxcorporate.com for their internet fax service.  eFaxcorporate.com is a sister company to eFax.com.  We believe that their software was acting up that morning (also their telephones - kept hanging up no mater what option you pressed) and our faxes were being rerouted to other eFax.com/eFaxcorporate.com clients.  They accused us of dialing the wrong number . . .  which just happened to be one of their other companies' fax numbers & three times by two different employees in our office - right! 

We still do not know where the other two faxes went.  Plus if you complain you are in for a wonderful conversation with someone that sounds like they work in India.  Good luck.  We are now signed up with MyFax.
