On August 11, 2006, I called 1st Convenience Bank automated system to check all transactions that came out my checking account but the system sent me to a customer service representative. The CSR told me my account was closed because there had been no deposits to my checking account.

I told her there are always deposits to my checking account because I was set up for direct deposit and the last one was on August 1, 2006. I asked her what happened to the money in my checking account and she said it was tranferred to my savings account.

I told her I went to the bank to close my savings account because I didn't have money to save. I repeatedly told the teller that I only wanted my savings account closed and that I wanted to keep my checking account.

The CSR on the phone told me I had to go to the bank to have my checking account reopened. She told me to let them know what happened and I may be able to get the same account number.

I went in Monday, August 14, 2006, and I told the bank teller what happened she made some phone calls and spoke with another worker at the bank about my account before she returned to me telling me that they could reopen my checking account. I asked her if I could withdraw the $5.60 they had in my savings account before she closed it and she said it was okay.

The bank teller reassured me that my direct deposit I told her was coming that week would reactivate my checking account. On August 16, 2006, I received my direct deposit in my checking account.

I used my ATM card several times to make purchases and to withdraw money from my checking account in the next few days. On August 23, 2006 I went to the bank to deposit my SSI lump sum check but I was told by the teller at another branch of 1st Convenience Bank that my account was closed.

She said the money that was in my checking account was in the prosess of being mailed to me as a cashier's check. I told her that I just had my account reopened a few days ago and had been using my ATM card with no problems.

I told her how the bank teller at the Cedar Springs branch closed my checking account by accident and I had to have it reopened for my direct deposit. I also told her that my next direct deposit was due next week.

I stressed to her how it takes the Attorney General office 30 days to change my direct deposit from one bank to another and how important it was that my checking account needed to be opened for my direct deposits.

She said she needed to call Cedar Springs branch and speak to her manager. She came back to me and said she will send an e-mail to have my checking account reopened.

She said my checking account couldn't be opened that day it would take a few days. She told me that she would definately have my checking account reopened before my next direct deposit.
It is due in my checking account August 30, 2006, I can only hope it will be there.
