Groupon Merchant Did Not Honor Valid Coupon - Groupon only offers credit not refund despite "Promise" of Refund Internet

GROUPON BUYERS BEWARE ! I purchased a Groupon for 3 months membership at a health club that expired January 16, 2013. I went to the merchant and they said Groupon's expiration date was incorrect even though it was printed directly on the voucher. They assured me Groupon would "refund" my $. Sure enough, Groupon has a "promise"  that "we will always honor your refund requests if a business closes permanently, an event is canceled or rescheduled, or a business refuses to accept your unredeemed Groupon voucher" - the exact situation here. Despite such a "promise," Groupon only offered to provide "Groupon Bucks" for the amount of the voucher. In other words, not a refund, as their promise states, but a "credit" to do business again with Groupon. Why on earth would I want to do business with them again? They refused to refund my $.  Buyer beware. If a Groupon merchant arbitrarily decides not to honor the coupon, you will get stuck holding the bag. Think long and hard before you do business with Groupon!
