Two years ago I got progressive insurance for motorcycle insurance.
my bike was on loan through ventura county credit union.
progressive knew I had a lienholder on the bike.
progressive gave me a liability policy without my knowing.
i was not aware that an insurance company coi&d give liability insurance when
the vehicle is not paid off.
last year I was in a near fatal motorcycle accident that took the life of my friend.
i was hit head on by a 19 year old kid racing on a canyon road lost control and hit me
head on.at about 70 mph.
progressive insurance did not realize they made the mistake on my policy by allowing
a policy to be liability with lien holder. When I spoke to them about the accident
they simply told me even though they did not realize this mistake on their part
that it was my problem not theirs.
please beware of this company!!!
one person died and three others nearly died and progressive insurance wanted no part
of it.
when I needed this company to perform in the worst time of my life they turned their back
on me..

#4 Consumer Suggestion
Progressive should have accepted responsibility

I've had insurance with Progressive and they can be strange to say the least, but when they realized they had put liability on a vehicle that had a note, they could have corrected their mistake and you pay the difference for a policy with Comp and Colision.
With that said, most insurance companies will place the responsibility with the vehicle owner to make certain you have the coverage you need for your vehicle with a note (loan). Your only recourse is to get an attorney and sue.
I hope I said that much better than the other person who was rebuting. A little nice with respect and dignity.\
I wish you good luck and I hope you are doing well!

You are under some weird understanding as to WHAT and WHO pays WHAT and WHO. If the vehicle accident WAS NOT your fault, then YOU need to go after the driver of the other vehicle and their insurance. YOUR insurance doesnt pay YOU. It would pay anyone damaged by YOUR vehicle be it a bike or car. Why would you expect them to pay YOU anything?? It wasnt YOUR fault or they would be paying out.
Ok so someone died we get that, its doesnt change what the insurance company is going to pay out. Insurance doesnt work that way and whoever told you this misinformation should really have their mouth sewn shut. YOU and whichever ATTORNEY you wish to retain have to go after the insurance company of the other driver, and once the max of the insurance they purchased as been reached, you have to go after the other driver in civil court to obtain anything after the amount paid by the insurance company.
I found this interesting....
when I needed this company to perform in the worst time of my life they turned their back
on me..
How exactly did they "Turn their back" on you?? YOUR insurance company has ZERO liability in this situation. So that means there is NOTHING for them to pay out on LEGALLY. How were you let down?? EXACTLY HOW WERE YOU RIPPED OFF??? Oh thats right, you were not ripped off. Odds are that you went sniffing around for money and you went sniffing around at the WRONG company. YOUR insurance company doesnt pay YOU anything if the accident wasnt your fault. Ok there was a paperwork error, get over it.
