Purchase a 60" Sharp Aquos from Sears with a 5 year service protection program. Purchased the unit in February of 2011.  The picture went out November 14, 2012 and I am still fighting to get it replaced. Sharp now tells me they will replace the unit with a refurbished one in 7 to 10 days?  This protection contract cost $710.00.  It looks like we are going to be two months without a TV and then get a refurbished unit to boot.  What a deal.  Never again will I purchase a Sears service contract.  To add to the insult I have had to call at least 6 times so far to get any response at all.

Sears or Sharp

AUTHOR: IntheKnow - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 18, 2012

If "Sharp" is replacing the TV, what happened to Sears auth service?  If this is an accomodation from Sharp (for good public relations), then your protection agreement with Sears was not invoked.  Your TV is beyond mfr warranty; an accomodation by Sharp appears to be a good gesture.  What is Sears authorized service involvement here? Please explain.  BTW - ALL service contracts give the administrators the option of replacing with refurbs - this is old news.
