For about 7 years I paid $37.95 a month to this company and in all that time, I only ever filed two claims for repairs that, in all honesty, probably didn't cost much more than the $75 co-pay. I only filed them to feel like I was getting something for all the money I was paying in. Then the first time something major goes wrong...wham! Claim denied.

My 13 year old air conditioning compressor (the one that came with the house) shorted out. A seemingly "mechanical failure" that this company claims to cover. So they dispatch B Cool Air Conditioning Repair to diagnose the problem and this guy reports that he found "drywall dust" in the coil.

So, because I happened to mention to the B Cool guy that my garage was cluttered as I had been doing some remodelling, Total Protect claims this, not the fact that it's a 13 year old air conditioner in Texas..in August, caused the failure. I haven't been doing any active work on the house in months and what little drywall work we did was two years ago. Somehow my air conditioner managed to deal with what "dust" there was for all that time and kept chugging along.

Now I'm out $75 to B Cool, whom I've apparently paid for nothing more than digging up enough "dirt" (pun intended) to allow Total Protect to weasel out of paying on a claim for something that they purport to cover. And I'm out $3,200 for the seven years of premiums I paid for nothing. I understand how insurance companies work...you need to take in more than you pay out....but the total cost of this repair as quoted to me by the Total Protect lackey that called to deliver the bad news would have been about $1,800...still a healthy profit and they still would have had my business. But they couldn't care le$$.

My advice, take your money and put it in your sock drawer instead of flushing it away it to these guys. If I'd done that I'd have most of the money I now need to pay for a new air conditioner.

CCHS, or HomeSure, or Total Protect are the same company

AUTHOR: Jim - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, November 06, 2013

I have had a similiar problem with this company on a claim my 75 year old mother made.

I am taking this to the atty general of Texas and of Florida, Texas Reputation, FTC, BBB and Legal hotline for Texans.

Please do the same in your area so we can put this company out of business once and for all.
