I signed up with Wild Blue at the suggestion of AT&T since they did not have DSL service in my area. The price for installation was supposed to be free, but it ended up costing me over $200. If you don't have your computer 5 ft away from your dish, you end up paying the installer for the extra wire and digging fees.

The speed was very slow and I had the most expensive package. The connection was very unreliable and it kept going down due to a relay in Laredo, TX. I would make my daily call to tech support and I would be on the phone for hours each week waiting for help.

I decided to look into alternatives and found that a PCMCIA card from Sprint gave me much better performance and reliability. I was six months into my contract with Wild Blue. I called to cancel and they wanted to charge me the remaining monthly fees as the "Penalty". I tried to explain the reliability issues I had experience with their company, but they would have none of it. I contacted the BBB and they were no help.

In addition, to the unreliability and the slow speeds (way under what they promised) I got an email from Wild Blue saying I was using too much bandwidth. I work from home and could not believe that any service provider would limit my bandwidth when I was paying the maximum amount for my connection.

To top it all off I decided to pay the additional amount and cancel with Wild Blue just to get them out of my house and end the nightmare relationship for good, but their web sit kept getting errors and it had a circular logic problem on the Forgotten Passord pages. Then when I called their phone message said it was Sunday and that they were closed, when in reality it is Friday and after 8:00 AM. Totally unprofessional and a ripoff company. Never do business with these people. They are aweful!
