5/23/25 - I purchased a 2014 Ford F-150 from AutoNation Subaru of Scottsdale for $18,000 under the premise that it had undergone a "rigorous inspection" and was marketed as a “Worry-Free” used vehicle “ready for the open road,” as stated clearly on AutoNation's website and marketing materials. I was in urgent need of a replacement for my high-mileage truck, and the dealership's assurances regarding vehicle quality and transparency played a significant role in my purchasing decision.
The vehicle had just been listed when I found it online. I inquired and received a prompt response from a sales representative stating: “Thanks for your interest in the 2014 Ford F-150, that’s a great choice!”
On May 23, after a brief visual inspection and test drive, I finalized the purchase following a four-hour process at the dealership.
On June 12, 2025, less than three weeks after purchase, I brought the vehicle to a nationwide repair facility due to issues with the air conditioning system. During the inspection, the facility informed me that they had already inspected the same vehicle for the previous owner just weeks earlier (in early May 2025).
Their inspection had uncovered major mechanical problems requiring an estimated $15,900 in repairs, including:
Failing suspension components
Defective turbochargers
Issues with the cooling system
Multiple high-mileage maintenance needs (spark plugs, transmission service, differential fluid, etc.)
I was told that none of the recommended repairs had been completed and that the vehicle had been traded in and then resold — to me — without any disclosure of these issues.
On June 16, 2025, I contacted AutoNation Subaru of Scottsdale with a detailed summary of the situation and a request to resolve the matter privately. I included the inspection report from the nationwide repair facility. I received a brief initial response requesting the report, which I promptly provided. Since that time, I have received no further communication, follow-up, or resolution from the dealership.
On June 23, 2025, I obtained a second opinion from a trusted local repair facility. They confirmed the same issues and quoted approximately $12,000 for the necessary repairs.
As of this writing, I have spent over $1,000 in diagnostics and minor repair attempts. The total cost to restore the vehicle to safe, functional condition is estimated between $12,000 and $16,000.
AutoNation advertises that all of its used vehicles are rigorously inspected and “Worry-Free.” Based on my experience, I see several possible explanations, all of which raise serious concerns:
The vehicle was inspected and passed, which would suggest AutoNation’s inspection standards are dangerously low.
The vehicle was inspected, the issues were known, and AutoNation chose not to disclose them.
The vehicle was never properly inspected, making the “rigorous inspection” claim deceptive.
AutoNation is using marketing language that intentionally misleads consumers regarding the condition and reliability of their used vehicles.
Regardless of which scenario applies, the facts are clear:
I purchased a used vehicle under the promise of safety and reliability.
The vehicle had documented, pre-existing issues totaling up to $16,000 in repairs.
AutoNation had access to this information (via their own inspection or through their trade-in process).
These issues were not disclosed to me prior to the sale.
I reached out to resolve the matter privately and have been ignored.
This correspondence is an effort to document the issue in good faith, in hopes that AutoNation or the appropriate regulatory body will investigate the matter seriously and ensure that other consumers are not misled by promises of a "Worry-Free" purchase.
If you would like any additional documentation, including inspection reports, repair estimates, or communications with the dealership, I am happy to provide them.

The FACTS!

By YOUR OWN admission, YOU conducted a "brief" inspection and test drive. Did YOU Read the documentation BEFORE you signed the documentation? Was this an AS IS purchase? If so, why in the world would you think you are ENTITLED to free service? The documentation would have told you if it was AS IS or included a warranty. Did YOU even bother to READ the financial terms? Why would YOU agree to pay a $600 BOGUS, ADD-ON, FAKE FEE ? When ANY car dealer adds FAKE FEES that tells you HONESTY and INTEGRITY are NOT in practice there. You didn't READ anything, right? The salesman told you where to sign and you simply did that THROWING COMMON SENSE OUT THE WINDOW! You make no mention of a warranty here therefore this was probably and AS IS purchase. Perhaps you should ask a grade school kid what THAT means. Oh yes, those FAKE FEES, the BBB goes along with it by SELLING slime ball car dealers an equally fake A+ "rating". The BBB is not your friend and is simply a PAY-FOR-PLAY SCAM which the regulators needed to shut down years ago.
