 First of all I'm a senior citizen. I was approached at Krogers while I was grocery shopping. The girl wanted me to open a checking account with $1. I told her no but she was very persistent. I told her I already had 2 accounts and I didn't need another one. She continued harassing me till I asked her if I was going to get charged if I didn't use it all the time and she said no. So I opened it with a dollar. About 2 weeks later maybe I put in $5. So I see this savings challenge on facebook and I thought I'd use this account. That's when I found out they closed it and took my $6. I think it's a shame they did that to me since I'm already on fixed income. That's why I think they approached me in the first place.

So what you are basically saying is that somehow they knew you were on a Fixed Income and because of that they decided to come after you to open an account just to take your $6.  Be honest with yourself...does that really make sense?

Just on the economics banks have a lot better ways to make money.  They were probably paying that person Minimum Wage($7.25 in TX).  Where even if she was a great salesperson and very quick at best she could probably get 4 in an hour.  So for them to "make" the $4 they are spending just in basic labor $7.25.  This is not even including the other overhead costs involved in a bank account.

Also, if someone is "harrassing"  you in a place of business, why did you not go to the store management?  Second you stated that 2 weeks later you "maybe" put in $5.  What does maybe mean?  Does it mean you maybe put in $5 or maybe it was after 2 weeks? 

But with all of this, when you found out they closed your account you did call them right?  When you called them up why did they say they closed your account?  What did the $6 go towards?

According to their website, one way to avoid the monthly service fee is if at least one account holder is at least 55 years old. You say you're a senior citizen. Either your definition of senior citizen doesn't match their's or the waiver code wasn't put on your account.

What reason did they give you for closing the account???
