Luckily I did not allow myself to get caught up with this company by purchasing a vehicle.  Both companies, 722 Redemption Funding, and Jake Sweeney Smart Mart operated under the false notion that they are separate companies, when they are not.  Just a simple phone call on a Sunday afternoon will tell you this because the automated answering system has the same person with the info call message.

Everything started when my my bankruptcy attorney handed me this flyer stating that "this company can save you money and/or get you into a new car.  I went to the 722 redemption website (https://www.722redemption.com/Home) and investigate and found out there, that I could get a car loan that would get me a vehicle with:

  • Late-model, Low-mileage vehicles
  • Low monthly payments
  • Short loan length
  • Discounted price

in another place on their website they defined the vehicle prices as "120% of clean trade" value, and in another place they described the program as a "wholesale replacement program" (see page https://www.722redemption.com/AutoDealers/GettingStarted).

After you apply, they send you to their "dealer network" when in fact they are BOTH at the same address...Redemption is at 169 Northland Blvd, while Sweeney is also at 169 Northland Blvd.  I'm not making this up folks, go check it out for yourself!!

Its right there in black and white!!!

So they send you to their "network" and tell you that you'll get a great deal at "120% of trad value" and the program is a "wholesale" program.  And then when you start to look at cars you get these outragous prices with outrageous interest rates upwards of 24%.

Let me just give you one example:

Hyundai

           Model: Elantra GLS   Aluminum wheels
           Color:  Red
           Miles: 17937

                   Wholesale Price________________$16298.00
                 Documentary Fees______________$   250.00
                 Government Fees            _________$     33.50
                 Sales taxes 7.0% (LaPorte )       $ 1158.36
(Figured on the % for your state)
(If there is city or county tax additional, you will be responsible at time of
                         registration.)

                   Money required down__________ $     3352.36**
                   Amount to Finance_____________$ 14387.50
                   Payments @ 72 mos. 22.99%__      $    370.00

That was a direct quote on a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GLS, basically fully loaded...
If you look at that car on Kelly bue book, you get a fair market RETAIL price range between 13706 and 16753.  So the price I was quoted is in the upper range of retail price and no where near 120% trade, or wholesale.  If I were trading that vehicle in I would get anywhere from  11708 and 12383.  Both of those quotes are based on a car in "Very Good" Condition.

Luckily, as I said earlier I didn't purchase from them because I spent the time to do my homework.  This company (or companies if you wanna be funny) preys on people who are on their last legs, who are desparate, and who won't take the time to do their homework like me.

Funny thing is, I went to another dealer in my area (http://www.howardbuickgmc.com/) and priced out basically the same exact car, with only about 900 more miles on it, and I got the car for 13525, with a lower interest rate, a shorter loan period, and a lower payment than what I was quoted by Redemption/Sweeney. To be fair, I had to deal with all the bull that you always have to deal with at a car dealership like bait and switch, prices that aren't what you were "approved" for etc., but we all know that ahead of time.  We know that when we go buy a car that they will stretch things a bit to get the most bang for their buck out of us.  But for the most part, they won't straight out lie like Redemption and Sweeney did.

Bottom line:
If you are in the same boat as me, having a bankruptcy over top of you, don't let that shame or whatever it is that you feel, force you into a corner and do business with a company like this.
Take a deep breath, do some homework, and if you look hard enough you will find someone who really will help you.
