Afni Collections Can't Verify the Phone number they are trying to collect but offered a 25% discount to pay now? ripoff Bloomington Illinois

They are trying to collect on a supposed phone bill that is over 10 years old!

When I called to try to get information on the phone number I was told not to get too caught up by the phone number, it may be incorrect. Even though the operator was supposedly looking at the last bill with the phone number on it. May be incorrect, yet that's the supposed number I'm reasonsible for?? Huh?

I also asked why this had never shown up on my credit report - a delinquent bill for the past 10 years? The operator had no explanation for that.

They went on to offer a 25% discount if I would pay over the phone. what?

I went online after being told I would see what she was looking at. oops, no copy of a bill online and the collections invoice was different than what was sent to me.

I wonder what the attorney generals of my current state and the state the bill was supposedly from will think of this practice.
