Afni, Inc. Billed for a Cingular account I never opened! Concord, Ca Or Bloomington, Illinois

wow! i'm so glad i found this web site! i've been investigating a bill i JUST got from afni collections inc for $1,709.32. this is half of what they say i owed to cingular for a cell phone account opened in 2000. i've never heard of this account before, but since i had an i.d. theft problem back at that time i thought this was connected to the same thing.

BUT i just checked all my credit reports, and this bill that supposedly is so old and went to collections, is not on any of those reports! and the address they claim was used to set up the account doesn't show up on those reports either!

looks like a scam to me! i had already filed a fraud report with the federal trade commission about the alleged Cingular account. now i need to go back and file the fraud report on them! thank you all for writing in. i too don't normally write complaints on line, but this company has got to be stopped!
