Alamo Rent A Car Ripped me off on car rental by adding optional fees that I didn't want, charged me $278 extra Tucson , Arizona

I did on online economy car rental for 4 days which came to $143.04. When I arrived to pick up the car the clerk filled out the paperwork and handed it to me and the cost was $441! I argued and showed my reservation printout. She made an adjustment which lowered it slightly but was still $278 additional! She presented it as it was mandatory and said it was "taxes and fees to protect Alamo". She never told me these were optional charges that I could decline. As I needed the car for a coworker and I to get to a convention I took it and then called Alamo Customer Service. The customer service rep did a conference call with the rental office manager who was extremely rude and kept saying I added the optional charges which is untrue, the clerk added them herself which the manager admitted later is their "practice". The office manager was extremely rude and uncooperative. When I said I would escalate this to the BBB she said "go ahead!" So I did.
