I purchased a bouquet on-line at BloomsToday, which I thought would be $ 19.99 according to their advertised special. Instead I was charged a recurring fee of $ 9.99 per month, in addition to a shipping and handling fee of about $ 15.00. When I called BloomsToday about this, they referred me to BloomsRewards, another company.

Customer Service at Blooms Rewards did refund me for two of the $ 9.99 monthly fees that they had charged me, but they kept the initial $ 9.99 fee that they claimed I had signed up for. There must be some sort of an "opt-out" set-up on the website, i.e. I would *never* have knowingly signed up for such a recurring monthly fee.

I was most disappointed with BloomsToday, as they were not at all helpful. They told me I had to sort it out with BloomsRewards, rather than taking some ownership for this misleading practice.  The customer service rep at BloomsRewards was very kind and helpful, however her manager who I shared my concerns with, was less so. When I told her about the issue from my perspective, she said she would speak to the web designers. She never apologized -- and more importantly -- she missed the bigger point about it being deceptive marketing. I will *never* shop there and I will post my concerns in forums such as this. This experience makes me less likely to want to use online stores for flowers, i.e. merchants hurt their whole category with this sort of behavior.
