My 10 year old son saved up his money and bought a lego box set or so he thought. For $82.00, the company sent an instruction manual. [This is part of the scam, put the cost of the "part" at slightly below the set price, and show a picture that misleads consumers into believing a set is being purchased then refuse a return. I e-mailed and called the next day, and I received a nice response. It said that these things happen, to return the instruction manual, and my account would be credited within 48 hours. After a week to 2 weeks later, I called and e-mailed. No answer. No answer on any line. It did not matter what time of day or day that you called. I have also failed to find a secretary of state record for this company to bring forth a lawsuit. If anyone out there knows of a registered agent for this corporation, please let me know. We should get a class action lawsuit going. I am surprised lego has not taken action, as it is harming their image to have a scam organization selling lego parts. Beware, and any information is appreciated. Thank you!

They got me too

I purchased what I thought was a steal of a deal and bought what I though was four lego sets when in fact I bought four of the same instruction manuals. I went through the same three ring circus of a customer service and got no where. I sent the items back and they claimed that they never received it when I emailed them the delivery confirmation from the post office they changed their story really quick and said that they found the item but it was damaged and they needed the insurance information on the item. of course you're not gonna take out insurance on a bunch of stupid lego instructions right. So that was their excuse for not refunding me my money. I have filed a report with the FTC and econsumer.gov I encourage all affected by this company to do the same.

I am so glad that I saw these comments on here!! This company is horribly deceptive. I have two boys and was shopping around for lego sets when I came across Bricktrainshop.com. I saw sets that were reasonably priced and was almost ready to jump and order several for Christmas. I didn't notice that they were only selling MANUALS! Of course, I see it now that I sit and analyze the description but, I think it is just planned and manipulated in a way to deceive people. I, probably like many others, just simply thought that the set was slightly used and that they were stating that the manual came with the set. The only thing that saved me was I thought that some of the prices seemed a little "too good to be true". So, before getting out my credit card I decided to google it and see if anything came up. I am so glad I did! I just wanted to say Thank for sharing your experience so that others can stop before ordering from this HORRIBLE COMPANY!!!! Yep, I said it "horrible"!! and if the owner wants to get on here and rebuttal to that, then so be it :) I've also read their rebuttals to customers and it is ridiculous! They misrepresent the product and they are doing it intentionally to scam people and should be stopped.
If they were really into being fair, then why don't they put something in bold letters like: "YOU ARE ONLY ORDERING A MANUAL!" Yeah, my guess, they won't do that! They are criminals......

Agencies to file against bricktrain shop

Please file complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the District Attorney: Office of the District Attorney County of Riverside 3960 Orange Street Riverside, Ca. 92501, the FTC, IC3.gov, I even contacted the Lego Corporation (they are a wonderful company, they responded immediately). The more we file the greater chance someone will put an end to this dishonest company that preys on our children. Also, everyday I take five minutes to go onto the web and file a complaint or respond to a complaint. If I can take away a customer each day I have achieved my goal of saving another potential victim. If you start filing you will probably get about half your money back, that is what happened to us. Even after receiving a partial refund, I have not given up my quest to either put them out of business or make them honest. I believe they should not be profiting from being dishonest. Good Luck and do not let up, lets turn the pressure up.

Default to instruction set

Very weird, I've heard of this company sending instruction manuals instead of the actual item. Very deceiving. I went to the website and just chose Star Wars off of the main page images. When it brought up the screen for that item I noticed at the top the path it routed me to was Category -> LEGO SET INSTRUCTIONS -> Star-Wars. Now whoever thought of that brilliant idea ought to go fall in a hole somewhere.
Here is the description of the item I chose:
~At BrickTrainShop Something Lego is Always On Sale!!~ Lego Star Wars Set #7660 "Naboo N-1 Starfighter " Instruction Manual Excellent to Mint Condition, May Have Minor Shelf Wear... Descriptions, Videos and Reviews of the Original Set Now Retired!! Battle over...
Now I see it says "instruction manual" in the midst of all that jargon. I still consider this misleading since the website makes me believe I can buy old school Lego's and trains that aren't easy to find. So if I was specifically looking for instructions I would choose that on the left hand panel. Otherwise I think I'm buying the box of Lego's that is on the picture I clicked on. Next I notice it says "may have minor shelf wear", I immediately think "hmmm they've had a BOX OF LEGO'S sitting around for a while, of course it might have some shelf wear". Why would they "shelf" an instruction booklet? This does not make any sense from a organizing standpoint. I myself would most likely file all instruction booklets in a box, similar to comic books.....
I wonder how many pissed off people have fallen for this. I know you are supposed to read all the fine print and all that jazz but sometimes you are just too darn excited to pay attention. We all make assumptions, just some are more costly than others.
