CAMCO Capital Acquisition And Management Company ripoff Collecting on closed account Rockford Illinois

I received official looking letter from CAMCO saying that I owed about $700 including interest on a car loan account that was settled 12 years ago. The letter claimed that they purchased my account and there was a balance remaining on it and my debt included interest.

I called them to ask what it was about and I was told that they are willing to forgive the interest if I paid $205 within 2 weeks. I requested for it in writing and they immediately e-mailed me something to that effect. I was very suspicious but was not sure if in fact it was legitimate or not. I dug up my old records and sure enough, I found that in fact that account was settled.

I did a Google search on CAMCO and the top 2 entries was this site and FTC suit. I was extremely angry at this discovery. This fraudulent company possesses sensitive information about me. I filed a complaint with FTC, and they will not see a single penny from me.

Please do not pay a penny to SCAMCO without first checking to see if it is a legitimate debt. Even if the debt is legitimate, do not let SCAMCO get away with breaking the law. File a complaint with FTC if they break the law.
