COMPUSA ripoff protection racket ripoff rebate and ripoff business from hell Fresno California

on january 16/03 i went to compusa to purchase an advertised maxtor 200gb harddrive for $300 less $100 rebate.

compusa didn't have any in stock, i was told it would be two or three days before any drives would come in, which was passed the rebate date.

but no problem, the saleman asured me as long as i paid for the drive now maxtor would honor the rebate. i purchased the drive and sent in the paper work for the rebate.

28 days later the drive stopped working, i took it back to compusa only to be told 14 days was all i had to return the drive, that it was now between me and maxtor.

i ask for contact information for maxtor and was told compusa didn't have any but i could find it on the internet. i contacted maxtor told them my problem with the drive and also inquired about my rebate.

maxtor told me to box up the drive with the original packing and all the conformation #s they had given me, pay for the shipping they would pay for return shipping and i should also be receiving my rebate soon.

about 3 weeks later i recived the new drive about two weeks after that i recived a letter stating i didn't qualify for the rebate because the shipping date was past the rebate deadline.

after much arguing and faxing a copy of the original receipt showing the purchase date was before the deadline i was told i would recive my rebate.

i recived email conformation on 3/5/03 that my rebate was excepted and i would recive it within 30 days. as of today 60 days have passed and still no rebate.

i called maxtor only to find out that my rebate was still being prosessed but was once again assured i would be reciving it soon.

once compusa gets your money they just wash their hands of the whole thing! i think there should be laws against shopping at COMPUSA!!!

i now shop anywhere but compusa.
