At the time I didn't think anything of some strange person coming to my door to sell me something. I should have remembered that the new apartment complex I had moved into had key coded locked doors specifically to keep these kinds of people out.

His pitch was kind of confusing but at first it seemed like he was some kind of college student for a non-profit organization so I opened my door a little to hear what he had to say. I'm not the kind of person that closes doors on people although I may have become a convert. He seemed nice but after a while it was clear he wanted to sell me something but I figured if it was for a good cause then I might spend a little of my extra money. However while I waited to figure out what the cause was it turned out that there wasn't one.

Yes, clearly it is my fault for being such a pushover and I felt a little bad for him having such a deplorable job. I had heard in the past about a point system for salesmen and that if you sign your name saying that they tried then after a while with so many points they will get a bonus. I felt like it would be okay to to argue him down to a twenty dollar magazine subscription and then later cancel it. I gave him my money, shook his hand, wrote him a good review, and wished him well. Moments after I closed my door I heard him give the exact same spiel to the woman next door.

This is when our very tall and muscular maintenance guy threw him out for pestering the tenants and I heard him call our landlord about what had happened. That's also when I began to remember our doors were supposed to be locked and I hurried to cancel my subscription. I would describe the sales guy in the same way the woman who prompted me to write this did. He had notepad official looking documents and signatures before mine. He had given me a receipt and I called the number to cancel. The very unprofessional man who answered basically gave me a run down for canceling and asked me if I would like to sell magazines. I gave him a line about how my boyfriend wouldn't be happy about it and the "representative" asked me if he was going to punch me out to which I replied, "what? I don't know. I just don't want to get kicked out."

It was all so ridiculous, me trying to "explain" myself to this guy. That the person who sold me the magazine was nice but that I just couldn't afford it. In the end he told me to send my receipt to the address on the front and that I shouldn't spend other people's money when I might get kicked out. It was so bizarre and reeked of "SCAM". He clearly didn't care if I complained or sent the receipt to get my money back because I would never see them or my money again.

I'm posting my story in hopes that if this name becomes synonymous with SCAM then people won't even think about breaking out their wallet.
