Checked creditscore.com for my monthly review. Score dropped by 50 points in the past month. There were no changes to acounts, payments or any other information. No new debts. Actually have no debt at all. Called customer service at creditscore.com and was connected to a call center in the Philipines who asked for my S.S. number. No reputable credit service would provide your S.S. number to a foreign country. Asked to be transferred to a U.S. rep.

U.S. rep would not tell me why this drastic change occurred. There are no account issues to cause such a change. Lip service from a company I pay monthly to watch my back.

Very bad customer service. Experian and creditscore.com are hazardous to your financial health.

One shouldn't respond with generic info. Here's the skinny on this. I have no new debt... only a record of past debt such as paid-off mortgages. I have a net worth of about $3.1 million in cash, real estate and other holdings. I have no debt at all. No mortgages, loans, credit cards or other expenses. I've maintained a mid-six figure income since 1998. Your explanation is really quite hollow. The problem with credit agencies is that they believe debt is the norm. Those of us who have had success don't need or use debt. Therein lies the problem. If I don't borrow money I'm regarded as a bad risk even though I'm independently wealthy. Exactly why I've checked out of society at this point. Don't want to play anymore.

Information for you...

Okay a few things...

First of all the people you are calling are not telling you the reason because they DO NOT know the reason.  The exact algorithims used to calculate your score are highly confidential and your Customer Service Rep is NOT going to know.  Now, they may see enough reports to take a pretty good guess, but again even if they guessed it they are most likely forbidden from saying anything just in case their "guess" is wrong.

Your score can change for dozens of reasons.  One of those reasons is time.  So you could have no changes in anything on your report but because more time has passed the score will change.  How much depends on what is contained in your report.  Another sub part is that after a certain amount of time older items may "drop off".  If this happens your score could be affected in a significant way.  Especially if you have what is considered a "thin" credit file.

Now, I will say one thing about your case.  You stated....

There were no changes to acounts, payments or any other information. No new debts.

- This is a bit confusing.  You said you had no NEW debts.  So does that mean you have debts...what did you do with those debts?  What is the status of those debts?  Because it sounds like you had no payments.  If that is the case..that statement right there could be your issue.

Are you looking at the same credit score between the two months?   If not then that could be your issue because there are dozens of scoring systems and you could have an identical credit report and get dozens of different scores.   So your difference could be nothing more than a case of you trying to compare "apples to oranges".

The best thing I can suggest is take your two credit reports(the one from the previous month and the current one).  Compare them and see what is being reported differently.  If  you dispute an item on the current report then file a dispute.
