Gateway referred us to Dealtree to trade in our old computer for some cash. We went to their website and filled out the questionaire as to what we had. It then told us how much money we should get for our products.

The total was about $200, which isn't much but better than nothing. So we sent the computer, monitor and accessories to them. When they recieved the box they emailed us saying that our monitor was not a flat screen lcd that it was a standard monitor and that we owed them $75 for disposal! I emailed them back and said it was an lcd screenand they emailed back to say sorry it was a flat lcd screen but the monitor was scuffed and had a dime size dark mark on it and they were giving us $30 instead of the $60 that our survey said.

Then they proceed to tell me that buy looking at my pc they can tell that it had a critical peice missing and that it obviously didnt work and they never even plugged it in. It did work, I was using it 2 minutes before we packed it up to send in.

So they said they were not giving us anything for the computer, I said if that was the case I wanted it back. They said I had to pay $30 to have it shipped, which I think was rediculous but I wanted it back so I paid. Then it never showed up and I get am email saying they recieved the computer back. I replyed to them that DHL never delivered or contacted me and that I wanted it reshipped. Now they want me to pay another $30 to ship it again and I told them that was absoloutly ridiculous and I will not pay it!!

That being said I strongly suggest you never trade in a computer and never do business with dealtree for any reasons at all they are scammers out to get your product and not give you the money it is worth.

Dealtree (if that is event their name) Scammers?

AUTHOR: Lane - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 19, 2009

I dealt with Dealtree on a trade in situation and was very disappointed. I sent in three cameras and they were verified/tested. 2 of the 3 cameras were said to be "not working or will not power on". After reading some other posts, reports and my experience with Dealtree has led me to believe that they are lying. They are scamming us that they may keep the cameras or they will find another way to make money whether it is quoting us that it is not working or lying about the condition. I feel that Dealtree is not being truthful to its customers or honest.

how you doing Gary.

since i am an ex employee at dealtree and know how you guys operate. why lie about it. nice way to treat your customers gary. At least when i do computer repairs or when i convince a customer to trade in their older unit i try my hardest to make sure that the consumer knows what is going on and i mean every detail and if they live close by to me and they have time to watch me go over their comp i walk them thrue everything and i take the extra steps to put the consumers at ease. unlike you and the wannabe testers that you have employed at that little h**l hole of a company of yours.

???? Gerry????

Well, Gerry, very interesting!!! You wrote: "In July, 2006 BRANDI completed her Gateway trade request." Thereafter, you stated her trade-in was received August 9 (presumably, also in 2006).

Brandi's post appeared on this website 9-28-2005. A full ten months before your records indicate she even completed a trade request. In Sept. 05, she had already had her trade request item AT YOUR PLACE OF BUSINESS.

Your attention to detail speaks louder than all your words, and posts.

Definitely waiting to hear from you regarding the psychic ability Brandi evidently possesses.

If this discrepancy can be satisfactorily explained by Gerry, I WILL be impressed with DealTree.

If you ship a brick you will get paid for a brick.

AUTHOR: Garry - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 02, 2007

Dealtree.com operates several end-user trade-in websites and provides trade-in services for a large variety of well known manufacturers and retailers. We have processed and inspected over half a million items since we started in 2001. In this case, the item in question here was traded-in for payment in the form of a check.

In July, 2006 BRANDI completed her Gateway trade request. The quote of $ $134.56 received for the item was based on her word that the Desktop PC she quoted was going to arrive as he stated: "GOOD condition.

The PC arrived in good physical condition at our facility on August 9. Upon inspection the PC did not power on, further inspection revealed that the processor was burned out and screws holding the processor in place had been removed. It seemed apparent that BRANDI was fully aware that the computer she shipped was not working. Another trade, an LCD monitor had been packed with no cushioning between the LCD panel and the speakers shipped in the same box, resulting in damage to the LCD panel.

We offered to the return the PC at her expense, or recycle the unit at no cost. This information was communicated to BRANDI. We received payment for shipping, and shipped the item to the address provided. The carrier returned the item to us weeks later (return freight collect), indicating the address provided was incorrect, and we offered to re-ship the item to a new address.

The issue here is that we agreed to pay BRANDI for a working computer and BRANDI did not deliver a working computer. We are out the inbound UPS shipping costs plus the second return shipping cost as a result of the wrong shipping address provided (this was a 30 lb PC) and the cost of labor for inspection and disposal.

On eztradein.com, we provide clear shipping guidelines and extensive help to ensure each question is clearly understood and so that items quoted are processed within a hitch. Over 99 percent of the time, everything goes as expected for both us and the person shipping the trade.

We would caution anyone wanting to sell or trade items online to be sure to truthfully and carefully inspect and obtain a quote for the item in its real condition, then be sure to package the item to arrive in good condition. The seller (BRANDI) is ultimately responsible for ensuring the safe arrival of the items she sells and ships.
