Eco Construction & Maintenance Bad Debt Account for Sub-Contractors Lake Mary Florida

Our company acted as a sub-contractor for Eco Construction and Maintenance, doing parking lot repairs for various Verizon office locations in Maryland in 2011.  We upheld every part of our end of the contract.  Many of the Verizon managers at the various locations remarked on how well we performed our work, and did a much better job than had been done by other contractors in the past.  Eco paid our company for some of the contracts, but it was like "pulling teeth" to get paid.  Two of our executive officers flew to Florida to meet Eco CEO, Steve Chamu, and his staff, just after starting to perform our contracts.  While there, we observed a friendly staff of people on computers, selling jobs and sub-contracting all of the jobs out.  Eco performs no "hands-on" fulfillment of contracts.  All Eco contracts are fulfilled by sub-contractors. 

While on location, we also heard, first-hand, 2 subcontactor complaints of not getting paid.  Mr Chamu would not take their phone calls and his staff did a very poor job of trying to resolve the 2 situations that we observed.  Mr. Chamu tried to "blow-off" these 2 situations by telling us that the sub-contactors in question, did not fulfill their contracts properly.  That was the second indication, to me, that we should never have entered into contracts with Eco.  The first indicationwas when we arrives at the entrance door to Eco, the door was plated with one-way glass and was locked.  This seemed odd, to me, since their offices were located in a very nice part of town, with no foot traffic.

It is now, July of 2014 and my company still has not gotten paid for work that was performed in May of 2011.  To date, Eco Construction and Maintenance owes out company over $33,000.00. Eco's administration will not return our phone calls or emails, nor will they respond to our billing statements.

If you anyone is considering entering into contracts with Eco as a sub-contractor, I would highly recommend that you look for another company to work with.  There are many reputable companies, out there, that will pay you as required.  Eco Construction and Maintenance is not one of those companies.  Steve Chamu will RIP YOU OFF.
