This company in no way offered what they promised for the almost $2000 membership fee.  They said they were:

1.) a social club, not a dating club but they guaranteed their members were all single...I discovered this was not true when I went to a "meet and greet" event and talked to one man who was engaged and another who was married;

2.) 60% female and 40% male membership of all ethnic persuasions...again, the members at the events I attended were ALL caucasian and it was 95% (literally! I counted.) women;

3.) a variety of social events to appeal to all ages...an entire two month of events included paintball, horseback riding, happy hour, rollerblading, going to a movie, happy hour, picnic on the Potomac, happy hour etc. with not one cultural or music event in the DC area which is famous for both

4.) promised 60 to 65 events per month to choose from...there were 5 listed per week and that was only after 6 months of staff changes with emails of apology that they were so disorganized and we should be patient until they got their new "events manager" hired.

When I complained to the manager, she said I should be patient as they were a new organization and I should "freeze" my membership until I saw events that were appealing to my age range (50's).  When I said I wanted a refund, she reminded me that I had signed a contract that didn't allow for any refunds...and encouraged me, again, to freeze my membership.

Stay away from E&A if you want a social club that is multi-cultural, multi-event, co-ed, and responsive to complaints.

E & A is a Multi Cultural Activities Club For Singles

AUTHOR: Director of Member Services - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, December 17, 2009

1.   Events & Adventures is a Membership Club for the exclusive use and enjoyment of single adults.  As we are a singles club, many singles do meet others within the group and get engaged or married.  We will cancel a persons membership if we do find out that they misrepresented their singles status when they joined.

2.   We are a multi cultural club and have members of all ethnic persuasions.  As not all members go to every event, it is possible that not every age group or ethnic persuasion will be represented. However we will always assist all members if they want to know in advance who is attending events.  The number of members that signed up for the 2 events that this member attended in a year was 53 and 97 respectively with a good ratio of men to women.  Again we cannot control who shows up at the events, only offer a wonderful wide arrange of events that appeal to our members.

3.   E & A offers a very wide variety of Events & Adventures that includes everything from Indoor to Outdoor Events including Sporting Events, Concerts, Museums, Movies, Theater, Dinner Parties, Wine Tasting, Game Nights, and so much more.  Some of the Cultural Events planned in the last month alone have been:

National Museum of History, Bach In Baltimore, National Theatre, Wine Country Tour, E & A Book Club, Phillips After 5 Gallery, Mt.Vernon by Candlelight, Air Force Concert, Rockettes, National Zoo, GaylordNationalConvention Center.

 We also host trips around the globe from Cruises, to Caribbean Adventures, to Las Vegas, to Ski Trips, to White River Rafting. Our Events Directors work long and hard to find a variety of Events & Adventures that appeal to our members who have a variety of likes and every month offers a different range of activities...

4.  We average about 50 events per month, with some months a little more and some with a little less. There are always at least 2-3 per weekend day. We do offer a period of time that a member can freeze their membership, so that if they are unable to or do not want to participate they will not lose that time.

 5.  It is true that E & A did have a some staff turnover as they were a fairly new club, which is why they offered to extend her membership for when there would be more events to her liking.  We do apologize for any negative experiences that any consumer might have had. We now have a direct customer service line as well as a Director of Client Relations to aid in the prompt remedy of any issues...
