Hello I bought an xbox 360 from Gamestop on 1/11/08 brought it home and played the system for exaclty two months. Last night the xbox 360 broke in which the drive wasn't readimg any disc happens alot with 360.

well i still have the reciept and called gamestop today and they said that they cant help mebecause you have only a 7 day warranty from gamestop.

I believe this is flalse under the Il laws for returns i believe you are allowed up to 90 days and anyways since they are the dist. they are obligated to render some service to customers that experience this problem.

What really is hard is that i have a Halo 3 tournament coming up that is 50,000.00 first place and now i will not be able to compete.

If you can do anything to help please do so thousands of people are experiencing this problem and getting tken advantage of.

If i am able to create a lawsuit please let me know.

If you purchase a new system your warranty is 7 days. Past that it's yours. For 360s gamestop wasn't (at that time) allowed to sell in-store warranties for awhile, due to the red-light thing. This isn't the store's fault. Blame microsoft, I sent my 360 in and got it back in 2-3 weeks. Pretty fast compared to what I've heard about them.

Okay they don't have State laws about returning stuff. And if you have that kind of problem with your system call Microsoft and make them to do something about it. Dude that is just like eating a candy bar and then freaking out that you gained weight. Then trying to sue the store who sold it to you. Plus if it was a State Law there would be no point of having a 3 year warranty.

Xbox warrneties

AUTHOR: Loki - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 10, 2008

Due to the problems brought by the amount of heat given off from the Xbox 360's microsoft took over the warrneties for them.
so the store locations only have up to a 30 day warrenty. after theat you have a two year replacment warrenty from microsoft.
if the system has stoped reading discs then you can go to the Xbox website and select warrenty from their menue. it will include the contact information needed to get it replaced.

However if you used the xbox standing up without an intercooler then it may void the warrenty and it would fall under missuse. even though they were desinged to be used standing up the amount of heat generated made them re-write that part of the operations manual.

good luck and hope this helps.

Gamestop has no obligation to exchange your XBOX, unless you purchase their warranty, at the time of sale. You apparently didn't purchase their warranty, thus it's not their responsibility to replace your XBOX. There is no "law" that states they must exchange your item.

At this point, as you have no warranty through Gamestop, you'll have to return the XBOX to Microsoft, as Microsoft has a 3-year warranty on it. However, it could take months to receive a repaired or exchanged XBOX.

Again, this is NOT ripoff, but more of a disgruntled customer.
