A facebook friend's account was hacked where the friend inadvertently promoted Leanspa's Acai product. The friend was our pastor, a trusted friend, so we investigated the product. We found www.news11daily.net with what seemed to be a legitimate review of said products. Clicking through, my wife ordered the product based upon a referral from a trusted source, and a seemingly legitimate looking news review. Both advertising venues were false, fraudulent.

Within minutes of placing the order, our pastor advised his friends that his Facebook account had been hacked with advertisements for diet products from Leanspa. Upon closer review of www.daily11news.net, we noted it too was a fake review, one posted by Leanspa. At the very bottom of the page, AFTER all of the links to Leanspa.com's website, was fine print that finally lead a reader to believe that the site was false and not that of an objective news review at all.

Immediately I contacted Leanspa at the number provided in the receipt we received via email: 888-839-9990. Was told in no certain way would Leanspa stop the shipment, placed just 20-30 minutes prior. I requested to speak with a supervisor, was given the run around that the supervisor would say the same thing, and then passed through to someone claiming to be a customer service supervisor.

He cancelled the account and stated there was no way to stop the shipment or the charge of $4.95. I confirmed with him that if we returned the product, at our expense, within 14 days, that we would ONLY be charged $4.95. He answered in the affirmative, that this was correct. He offered to only charge $19 and change if we wanted to keep the product and cancel the account, I declined.

I asked if I could speak to the supervisor's manager or director. He refused saying he was the highest person I would speak to. I asked for the legal name of the company, the state in which they were incorporated, and for the names of any officers or directors. He volunteered the name of the Customer Service director, Brian Lint, but refused to provide a phone number.

I advised that I would be calling my credit card company to refute the charges. He again asserted that the sale was a valid sale. When I inquired about deceptive and fraudulent marketing practices, he could provide no answer and only claimed that he worked in customer service and not marketing.

I have filed a complaint with the Connecticut BBB. You can too here: http://ct.bbb.org.

In case Leanspa happens to read this, here's how you can make this right:

I want the $4.95 refunded for S&H and for Leanspa to pay for return shipment of the product. I contacted Leanspa with ample time for them to cancel the shipment. This would have eliminated the need to return it. If they want it back, they should pay for means of return.
