I notice three charges on my checking account on Thanksgiving Day. These totaled almost 100 dollars.

Each individual charge listed a phone number claiming to be Magazine Subscription Services. I managed to get a refund for two of the charges which turned out to be Nat'l Geographic Adventure and Readers Digest. I previously had a "free" subscription to these magazines.

I also had a charge for Time magazine which I also had a free subscription. However I could not cancel time magazine and received no refund for the 44 dollars they took out of my checking account.

This company provides no way to talk to an actual customer service representative about theses fraudulent charges. I've checked with Magazine Subscription Services online and it does not appear to be the same company as they do not offer time magazine and had no record of me as a customer. I've checked with Time Magazine directly and they don't seem to know anything about it.

To my knowledge no company has the authority to take money out of my checking account without my approval which would make this a case of theft.

NSS magazine service center. finally got refunded!!!

AUTHOR: J m - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 09, 2009

I just filed this report against magazine service center. After reading another customer's complaint about how to get a real person on the line I was able to get my "fraudulent" charge refunded.
When calling the automated system simply don't say anything or press any buttons and you will be connected to a real person. The representative was very courteous and knowledgeable and immediately refunded my money. He also explained that the fine print in my ordering 2 dollar subscriptions indicated billing me if I did not cancel.
If you have had the same problem with this company, call the automated system again and try this; press 00 and you will be connected to a real live person!!!
