Wow!! I really wish I had researched Marshall Engines - marshallengines.com (Power Source - psengines.com) online before I made this major purchase. Although they operate under several different names and through several distributors probably so they can avoid the numerous bad reviews that exist online. Hopefully, others will read this and not make the same mistake as myself.
I purchased a Ford 390cc 8-cylinder engine from Marshall Engines in August of 2011. The engine was delivered to my mechanic, whom has 36 years of experience and is an accredited Master automotive technician. The engine was installed at which time I was informed by my mechanic that the engine didn't have proper compression and that it was probably a manufacturer defect involving the timing not being set properly. My mechanic contacted Marshall Engines and began the warranty process. Marshall Engines requested several test procedures to assess/remedy the compression problem. After all the requested procedures were performed Marshall Engines requested that the engine be removed and returned to them for inspection. The engine sat on a pallet for about ten days after Marshall Engines had been contacted with the bill of lading. Contacted Marshall Engines and was told it was the couriers fault that the engine hadn't been picked up.
Once the engine was returned I was told that it would take 7 - 10 business days for them to inspect the engine. Two and a half weeks later I was contacted by Marshall Engines and told that they could find nothing wrong with the engine, and that I could either have them rebuild the engine or ship it back to my mechanic to have him rebuild the engine(because the engine was now in pieces) at my expense for the shipping and the rebuild. Or I could sell them the engine that I had bought from them for $1,899.00 for $360.00 as a core. Awesomeness!!! Rip off artists. Hope this helps someone else save some time and headaches.
