Do not sign up with Merchant Services Direct or Sphyra or any other of the many names that this credit card processor is doing business as. First off their rates aren't very good. Second, and more importantly, they are terrible liers.

We have had issues with previous CC processors, so we didn't want to be locked into a long contract. It was one of our top criteria. With the salesman we discussed this several times and were assured that there would be no contract. However, when we then needed to cancel after a few years of use we found that they had locked us in with a 3 year contract.

We were 4 months shy of the contract ending. We called and discussed the situation with them and we were told that they would waive the cancellation fee and we just needed to send in their cancellation form. So we sent the form immediately. Then for the next 3 months they continued to bill us. We called and they said, it was a mistake and they would refund the monthly payments to our bank account. No credits came and they then charged us again. We called again and this time they said that they had waived the cancellation fee of $250, but to do that they had had to continue charging our account. We said, "So essentially you aren't waiving any fees like you said you would, and you are billing us for the full term of the 3 year contract that you told us wouldn't exist?" They responded by saying they could refund the last few months of charges if we wanted to pay the cancellation fee instead.

Basically, whatever they say they will do, don't believe it. We even had our signed contract in writing and they said, "How do we know you didn't alter that, it's not what our contract says." So, streer clear of Merchant Services Direct.
