If you are looking for a moving company do not use Nationwide Moving Services. I recently used them for a move across the country. My first question to them was do you have your own trucks and drivers or do you hire it out. I was told by Brenda that they have their own trucks and are not a third party. Well, that was a lie.
I had a difficult time getting a date from them as to when the mover was coming. He finally shows up at 7 pm with his wife and baby. He complained the entire time that he was unable to move my things himself, so I ended up loading the truck with him. I hired a mover to avoid having to move my own things!! It was one of the coldest nights of the year and he left his baby in the truck the two hours it took to pack my things in the truck.
He gave me his cell phone so we could be in touch as to the date that he would arrive at my destination. He never answered his phone even after I left many messages. I finally got in touch with him a couple of hours before he should up. There was significant damage to some of my furniture and items that were never delivered.
When I followed up with Nationwide and the driver from Castle Harbor Marina Moving I was told that the driver had my missing things and would deliver them. We set up a time for him to deliver them but he never showed up. I called Nationwide again and they said that the driver was going to send my things via Fed Ex. Six weeks later and I still do not have my things. I have repeatedly called Nationwide and they told me that they cannot get in touch with Castle Harbor and they have gone out of business and there is nothing they can do.
This driver has my things and does not want to give them to me and now has dropped off the face of the earth. He stole my stuff and all Nationwide can say is "not our problem." They hired this guy and now they do not want to resolve the issue.
Nationwide is a scam. They hire movers that are unprofessional and not reputable after claiming that they have their own trucks and drivers.

You Made A Mistake

Mark - you made some very serious mistakes in this process:
1. You went looking on the internet for a mover. Most internet movers are brokers, not movers. These folks are brokers and it says so on their reg. The broker's responsibility ends when they find the mover for you. Chances are, if your mover has to use a broker to get business - it's not a mover you should use.
2. You chose someone who did not come to the residence to see what it is that needs to be moved. Internet movers can't do it and there's nothing that can substitute for an in-person review. Not an inventory sheet. Not someone telling you an estimated weight over the phone. Nothing but a survey done by someone who can see everything and give you a binding, not-to-exceed estimate.
3. You chose someone who gives you Anthem as their Claims people. Anthem works for the broker and mover - not to give you anything fair. Your contract limits you to $0.60 per pound for the missing items. What the employee from Nationwide didn't tell you is that Anthem will probably reject your claim because (and she's right) the broker is not responsible for the missing items - the mover is and if the mover's out of business, then you're out of luck.
Consumers should always use the internet to research a mover and NEVER use the internet to find a mover. Moving is not an inexpensive venture and shopping for a mover on the internet will end up costing you far more in aggravation, claims, and missing items than if you went with one of the national movers with a brick and mortar office near you. Best of luck to you.

Nationwide Moving Services apologizes for your unhappy relocation...

Unlike the other moving companies, we are not on here to tell 'our side' of the story. We do not want to argue or put down a customer who is angry enough to go on the internet and file a report about our company. That is our fault as a company if we let it get to that point. However we do want to rectify the situation with you, and the way that we go about that with quality service is through Athem Claims Management. Please contact them or our customer service so that we will have a chance to make the situation right.
